Good. Bad. Monkey.

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Good. Bad. Monkey.

Just found this and had to share this. It's joycore.
This is a comics solicitation that is more snakes on a plane than Snakes on a Plane:
NEXTWAVE #1 (of 12)

Written by WARREN ELLIS
Pencils & Cover by STUART IMMONEN

RRRAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!
Action! Excitement! Explosions!
The Highest Anti-Terrorism Effort, or H.A.T.E. (a subsidiary of the Beyond Corporation©) put NEXTWAVE together to fight Bizarre Weapons of Mass Destruction.
When NEXTWAVE discovers that H.A.T.E. and Beyond© are terrorist cells themselves and that the BWMDs were intended to kill them, they are less than pleased.
In fact, they are rather angry.
So they make things explode.
Lots of things.
Starring Monica Rambeau (formerly Captain Marvel and Photon), Aaron Stack (Machine Man), Tabitha Smith (X-Force's Meltdown), monster-hunter Elsa Bloodstone and The Captain! Guest-starring Fin Fang Foom!!!
If you like anything, you will LOVE NEXTWAVE!!! BOOM!!
Let me repeat that last line.

'If you like anything, you will love Nextwave!!! BOOM!!!'

I love that.

Only thing missing is that they didn't mention Dirk Anger in the text. But Fing Fang Foom is in there, so it's all good. :swirly:

Let us all buy Nextwave when it comes out. If you don't, you clearly don't like anything.

Who's The Captain?

Tabby's landed here? Guess nobody else wanted her... But then again, the only time she wasn't I-want-to-kill-her-painfully kind of annoying was when she was in Ellis' X-Force.

Sounds fun. :)

Quality.

It sounds like Alias. But with less plot and more explosions. Which is joy.
Grrr. Argh.

Apparently he's every stupid non-entity Marvel character who's ever been called Captain {insert anything here}. Captain Kerosene, Captain Tyger, Captain Zero, Captain Prolapse, whatever...turns out they were all the same guy. Presumably will have laods of powers and some...interesting...psychological quirks.
The other character in the book is their superior officer, Dirk Anger. Who's like Nick Fury turned up to 11.

Yeah, it's not exactly going to be a serious book.

Alias is probably me favouritest comic ever. Bendis is leaving the Pulse soon; we're only going to get about 3 issues of him and Gaydos back on the character. Which kinda blows.
But hey, good, bad, monkey...what's the difference? :)

Alias was awesome.

He should just wrap the pulse up if he is going to leave it imo.

I'd have to agree.

AtR has panel artwork for Nextwave:

I really hope Dirk Anger is going to be as fun as he looks.
And I love his Jetsubmarine thing.

Bumping as I've just discovered this forthcoming comic has a theme song.
Which is brilliant.

Link to it is on the Nextwave page, which also has coloured pages:

On the Alias sidenote, a bloody huge hardback containing the entire series plus the Jessica Jones What If? is being released next year, March I think.

Guest-starring Fin Fang Foom!!!
He was quite good in that funny 'MOnsters unleashed' comic, Fin Fang Four... :D

This came out last week, and completely rocked my socks off.
It's since fully sold out. As it is better than you.

So buy #2, you nerks.

Yes. They are paying me in Explodo dollars.

...#1 is getting a director's cut reprinting. C'Mon, Ellis, Immonen, D-list heroes fighting a big dragon that wears Y-fronts and a character called Dirk Anger.
You know you want it.

Now with LETTERS! Letters that go FING FANG FOOM PUT YOU IN HIS PANTS!

I loved it, up to its fake letter pages (then again, they might be real... :o ). And the theme song's cool, too. My favourite bit was when Dirk was talking about his eating habits.

Immonen's art is something you need to get used too, but it kinda suits the mood of the book.
