IGN's top 25 animated movies...

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Princess Mononoke was way too low on the list IMO. And where's Advent Children?

As with all lists it's only true for the guy who compiled it :)

Personally disagree with most of it and think the people involved should delve slightly more widely in their anime.

I also seem to be about the only person who found the Incredibles vaguely cute for the first 20 minutes and just monumentally boring after that. "Look look, it's our 282nd irony joke! Haha! He wanted to talk to the guy but accidentally threw him 40 yards away! Hee!"

Criminally dull (*and* smug) and suffering from what seems to now plague western animation; a very tired, limping attitude to cartoons being full of in-jokes and self-parodies (and parodies of parodies and cliches of cliches until the mind-boggledeth o.O). It works once in a while, not for every single movie imo.

I had to write them an email they will probably never read. I asked why Akira, widley seen as one the great animated films wasnt in the list.

They seem to have a very Hollywood'ised view of cartoons- i.e. only Disney or Anime which was discovered off the back of Spirited Away (bar one, every single anime they nominated was from the same director).

at #26?

Actually, it's just because it hasn't had a US release yet. It'll be out here on Nov. 29th.

I disagree. Miyazaki himself has made several better films that are not on the list.

looking at the list as always it can't teel the difference between infulential and best.

For example Fantasia is a pile of random rubbish, Monsters Inc, while good isn't that good, Shrek is a 1 time watch only, Finding Nemo can get irritating after a few watches and Toy Story is virtually as good as Toy Story 2 and better than any other Pixar film bar possibly the Incredables so why is it so far down?

The list is a cinema based, US focused, pixar wank, recently realised and narrow minded list.

Castle in the sky, Valey of the Wind, Kiki's delivery service, Watership Down, Ninja Scroll, Akira and especially Wings of Honneamise
