MTMTE - Best and Worst?

Post by Best First » Wed Sep 28, 2005 2:34 pm

Whcih were the best and worst profiles in the DW MTMTE series (irrespective of artwork)?

For me Carnivac's as awful, totally missing the point of the comic char (which is were his basis should relaly have come from seeing as he got rod development anywhere else).

but conversely i really like the affaction that seems to be have been put into Grapple and Hoists.

MTMTE was great, something really worthwhile from DW.

But you're right, Carnivac's bio was a joke. Though I doubt Mick and Patyk had read any b/w UK stuff.

Mostly, I liked the Micromaster profiles. Some were even close to what I thought out for them when I played with them as a kid (although I always had Tracer as the leader of the Military Patrol)

Also, liked Sludge's profile by Grimbo, and Grimbo's by Prime. Prowl's is quite good too, likewise Trypticons.

Worst? Well, Carnivac... nice art, shoddy profile. I could've written it better. In fact, I DID wrote one months before...

Also, Megatron's,Shocker's and Starscream's. It screams "I, Brad Mick wrote them to fit the personalities I gave them in MY comic". So Megs became Adolf Hitler, Starscream Megatron's long lost son, and Shockwave the "Deus ex machina".

Not a cartoon character...

Cartoon characters...

I sense a pattern forming...

I need to reread these, but I do recall the Carnivac profile you mention as indeed being really, really crap.

An early standout that I also recall was Airwave's, written from Megatron's POV. Nice teatment for a MM.

soem really over emphasise character faults to teh point here you just think - what reajing use is this guy? I think Red Alets is along those lines.

Inefrno's just makes me think 'why doesn't he change job's then?'

Menasor's and Motormaster's - written by Red Alert, who describes them as dangerous psychopats. In fact, all the Stunticons are, since that's what Mick wanted to do with them. Failing to notice the fact that about 50% of the Con army are psychos.... (And just what makes Dead End a psycho?)

Pretty sure Carnivac is going to come out as the worst here...that was a terrible treatment of a fan-favourite character.

Best? Can't think of one right now. I'll revise and revert.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Bad, naturally... Mick=Bad...

No, seriously,Inever understood, why in War andPeace Starscream just lets loose the Stunticons- when Motormaster was his right hand guy inTWW (which was already out by then) That's DW continuity for you!

Easy, because

1. Mad Brick had to crowbar in Starscream's brigade because it was in the cartoon.
2. Creating huge continuity errors is also part of the cartoons.
3. Toonies are too distracted with the art to notice.
4. Furman got sidestepped, because his older stories were different from the cartoon.

Just to name a few

Argh, you had to remind me of the art!!! Pat Lee's marshmellow men...

Remember the 'write in the speech bubble" contes of War and Peace? There was a page with really, badly, placed panels, about the Bots stroming Shockwave's Citadel of Doom TM. I wrote my version that was like: Defensor:"What on Primus is this?" Perceptor: "Your arm."

I didn't win the contest. Wonder why. :D
