So, IDW are going to be doing this 'What if' TF monthly book.
Who do you wanna see contributing?
Anyone you don't want to see?
eh?
Quite like to see Steve Dillon drawing TFs myself.

I'd rather see myself drawing TFs than José Delbo.Best First wrote:Quite like to see Steve Dillon drawing TFs myself.
No Mad Brick. Uhm... that's all I got.

It would probably be one of the most original TF comics ever!!Best First wrote: Love to see what Ellis would do with teh concpet but i think he might be a bit contemptuous of the whole idea.
I think John Byrne would be capable of something very interesting, but I guess he would probably think it a bit beneath him, too.
Byrne is a master of telling the story with minimal / no text. I think it would be cool to have a one-off where it told the entire story with no text , just sequential images!!
I'm thinking of some of the stuff he did in the early '90s like 'Next Men' and there was a one-off 'Alien' comic for Dark Horse where he did it with no text........cool.

See, this I acctually have a few concerns about. Although Dillon is a great artist, his main strenghts is the human form and especially the face. He has admitted that faces are his favorite to draw.Best First wrote:Quite like to see Steve Dillon drawing TFs myself.
Theoretically this would give him a take on TF's that would be similar to Wildmans, in faces that is. I have no idea how the rest would look, as quite frankly I've never seen any tech-art of his. Atleast nothing that I would mention as an indication on his ability to draw robots, with battle-damage with wires and such at that.
I would like that too! Let's hear it from the man that invented the creation matrix!Scraplet wrote: it would be nice to see what Budanskey could do with a free reign; unnhindered by Marvels syle or Hasbro desperatly needing the 'next characters' introducing.
And come on fellas, Delbo is better than you think. Give him a chance on the Budiansky one-shot please. I think he'll do abolutely great, with his advance in his art, no constraints, no crap inker and digital colour!

Oh, loads of people I'd like on a book like this, in an ideal world. Like lots of folk, I've been wanting a elseworlds/multi-creator TF book for donkeys.
Senior + Furman obv. It'd be nice to see other old TF creators returning in some fashion; maybe not an issue, but a cover perhaps. Saying that, I like Barry Kitson's stuff. Artists are easier to wish for.
Bisley.
Quitely.
Henry Flint.
Hitch.
Chris Batista.
Mignola.
Allred.
Corey Walker.
More of James Raiz, plz.
Pete Doherty.
Covers by Templesmith and Bradstreet plz.
Jae Lee can come back.
Adi Granov.
Most of my favourite writers would probably never do it, and tbh I'm not sure I would actually like what they did. IIRC, Ellis has indeed been disparaging about TF in the past. So I'm loathe to suggest writers. Apart from Garth Ennis. A 'weird war story' type tale featuring the Wreckers, or any characters really, would be aces. With Carlos Ezquerra art for preference.

Oh my, almost forgot about Jae! He must of course come back, and put him on a tale dark and grim enough. War is hell.KingMob wrote:Jae Lee can come back.

And this time, give him some good colouring damnit! Like he's been getting in Ultimate FF. Granov can supply that, and more. It would look smashin' I kid you not.
As for writers, well.. Stan Lee anyone? And artist Tom Scioli from Godland. He draws just like Kirby! Could be an interesting new style for TF. One that can be enjoyed by many, I would even dare say.

see?
Frank Miller is the first to come to mind. His blocky, squared-off style and use of color would make for some great TF illustrations. The grim, violent storytelling would be refreshing after seeing 'Armada' and 'Energon.' Lastly, his frequent association with the Robocop franchise indicates he has a soft spot for mecha.
I would also like to see Andy and Larry Wachowski put their spin on the Transformers universe. Despite the dissapointing Matrix sequels, I still think these guys are very innovative storytellers and I would love to see them put their energy in new directions.
The last one to come to mind is the Jodorowsky/Moebius team. While they would have to tone down the content of their stories for Transformers, I am always blown away by the mind-bending ideas in their sci-fi epics, such as 'Metabarons' and 'Technopriests.' The fantastic scale of their stories is perfect for Transformers.
None of these will ever happen, but we can always dream.
