Characters no one dislikes?

Post by Best First » Wed Sep 07, 2005 9:31 am

Are theer characters everyoen agrees are great, that no one has an issue with? Some people dislike Prime, some Grimlock, some Megs, is there anyone we can all get along over?

I reckon Soundwave is a good contender? Or am i wrong?

Any others?

Soundwave's cool.

How anybody can dislike Thundercracker is beyond me.

Oh, yeah. Death's Head. Bitch!
Grrr. Argh.

Surely that's the fault of the writers, though. ;)

He is responsible for the most interesting character moment in the entire cartoon. But then happily discarded. :(
However i have no issues with Skywarp.
I can't think of a single thing he did in the comic. I know he was in Dinobot Hunt, but apart from that I cannot recall. He spent most of the run in a box, iirc.

He was rubbish in the cartoon, too. "Oh, can I teleport Megatron? Please? Please? Pretty please?" Kinda kills the element of surprise if you've got no sense of initiative.
Grrr. Argh.

I don't like Trailbreaker. I nothing him. Generic cypher character who only got used in the cartoon whenever the plot called for a forcefield... of course when they actually logically needed one but it would have killed the peril, he was nowhere to be found.

Brawn I hate on principle.

Brawn is annoying.
I want to stab him.

What about Bumblebee?

Bumblebee? Ugh. Too goody-goody "hey, kids - identify with this character" forced underdog rubbish.

Plus I'm of the opinion that no car, under any circumstances, should ever be yellow. Ever. I'm ******* serious.

I always thought of him as something of a tragic character, a big hulking, old, fuel guzzler who's not particularly found of the fact that he's using up the 'bots precious fuel reserves. plus whenever he did appear in the comic he normally ended up getting toasted (Man of Iron and T:2006 spring to mind), (apart from Dinobot Hunt)!

poor old Trailbreaker.

Bluestreak also somewhat tragic, what with the whole "sole survivor of eradictaed home city" back story.

But of course, there's Guzzle. No one can have a bad word against him.

I hear you. An old friend of mine loves yellow cars tho, infact she's just bought a new one because her old yellow car died... it's bright fecking yellow too... *shudder*

Ratchet must be a contender? He was involved in lots of the big stories and people struggle to find a bad word to say about him....

Rachet's a definite choice.

Blaster?

Nightbeat?

Jazz?

Blaster suffered from inconsistant writing. I *hate* the Furman version.

Jazz suffers from not being as good as he is supposed to be. Seriously, all his profiles go on about how he is supposed to be spontaneous, creative and a damn fine solder, but I cant think of any story he is involved in that backs this up. He has no personality.

Nightbeat is class.

I know I`m biased, but Shockwave? Most seem to think he`s pretty badass.

Predaking?
Logic dictates there is no place for such emotionalism in a Decepticon commander. Nor is there room for incompetence.

I don't think it's scientifically possible for anyone to hate a fictional robot more than I hate Predaking. :)

Most of the characters who recieved a good amount of characterization have at least a few haters, I guess. The ones who've never done anything probably don't attract much attention either way, so it's fair to say that the likes of Phaser, Blaze Master, Splashdown or Downshift probably aren't disliked by many people.

But as far as (semi-)important characters go, I don't think Nightbeat, Spinister, Soundwave or Ratchet draw too much flak.

Yeah, surely everyone likes Ratchet, and Soundwave can't have very many detractors either.

Hound? (the character...) One of the few cartoon characters I liked. Better than bloody Bumblebee.
Brawn I despise.

Outback? Made an impression, at least.

Yeah, totally. I often think of him as one of those characters that tries to be more cheerful and with it than he really is.

I think Spinister is a dick.

Good call on Outback, altho his last ever appearence was a bit lacklustre.

Fangry?

kidding

Shockwave is cool by me. Nightbeat is bloody ace.

Inferno?

During their badass hayday? - definatly.

During their pair-of-bickering-old-women stage? Not so hot. Only good as target practice for Death's Head! :D

Whilst on the subject of Soundwave, Ravage was pretty cool?

And how about Scorpornok?

Ravage is the don. That said his final scene in G1 was a bit pathetic for such an established character.

Both pretty cool in my book.
