Does anyone know of a quick and simple way to kill Outlook Express for good? Everytime I accidentally click on an email link the damn thing starts up and starts up Word as the email editor and basically bugs the hell out of me.
I'm using XP nd Firefox, btw.

well if you reeeally wanted to delete it...
search (all folders, all files) for msimn.exe.
It should return 2 or more matches, one in my programs and the other in a backup directory. Delete them all- windows will complain about this in a stern looking "windows files are being changed" dialogue box, just choose YES/OK.
If you want to remove all of it, just search for every filename in C:\program files\outlook express\ (to get the backups too) and delete them.
Be warned- this may/may not break things. It shouldn't but no guarantees- youll need the Windows XP CD to restore these files should you ever want them too. Means OE wont open when you click on links tho, it physically wont be there.

Be sure in your search you specified to search all folders and all hidden/system files too- if there is any backup copy of it, windows just shoves it straight back where it was like nothing happenedMetal Vendetta wrote:Gah, it removed the msimn files and it still loads...time to go to the pub and dispense some drunken justice when I get home, methinks

Probably need to turn off System File Protection before deleting executables.
