SPOILERS BY THE WAY:
Sutherland is signed up until series 6 at least so yes there will be more 24.
I think the ending is just to make next series different. Much like how series 4 didn't have Jack, Michelle or Tony working for CTU L.A. to start with.
I dodn't think Tony would be back for series 4 had I not seen the DVD cover. It's more exciting having no idea what's next and thats part of 24's charm.
I suspect CTU or the government will call Jack in secretly. He technically has a alt ID in progress so the Chinese government won't know the USA is using him and is offically dead anyway.
Palmer will never let on he know and is likely to be moved out of government by the new press who is clearly easily threatened and a scaredecat and I believe only Tony, Michelle and Chloe know he is alive and they all had plans to leave CTU anyway. So he could be even more effective initally and the bad guys won't have any idea Jack is still alive.

Thats a shame. Tony's comeback was a wonderful surprise. The only ones I watched on DVD were the last 4 eps (rented) because I missed one on TV so avoided the rest of the series.Jetfire wrote: I dodn't think Tony would be back for series 4 had I not seen the DVD cover.
It looks like Tony and Michelle are written out. I was thinking Jack could be called back in a "This is a job for Jack Bauer" kind of way, but I'm wondering if they might go for a different location than LA this time to shake things up.
I enjoyed the season, despite the series getting more and more silly. I have to say, Jack is one of my least favourite characters in it! Doesn't help that he's such a bastard.

I'm the opposite. I love Jack. He's so hard. I don't see him as a bastard but he has to be harder than the enemy or they will win as they always use the good guys protocol or morals to help achieve their goal.
I appreciate the fact Jack knows he has to go further than anybody else for the sake of everybody else. It always costs him dear. His wife dead, his daughter stays away from him, he developes a drug habit, he gets marked for dead by the very country he has saved 3 times over and rejected by the women he loves.
What I especially like about Jack is the fact he asks for nothing in return, a really noble guy. The bit I loved the most was the way he completly broke down at the end of series 3 and cried because of all the bastard things he has to do so everybody else can have a good life.

Yeah, that was good, and it needed to be shown. Its strange Jack loves so much the country that treats him like ****.Jetfire wrote:The bit I loved the most was the way he completly broke down at the end of series 3 and cried because of all the bastard things he has to do so everybody else can have a good life.
When he walked off at the end of the last episode of series 4 it would have been fitting to have that sad Incredible Hulk piano music.

That peice of music is brilliant. It's just so incredably sad.spiderfrommars wrote:

yeah, i thought that.spiderfrommars wrote:One thing that got on my tits was that he just kept torturing EVERYBODY. It would be good if he could think of another way for once.
"Pizza's here"
"Quick, get Johnstone and prep the interrogation room"
Plus, some people just reistsed for stupid reasons, notably Paul Reines and the Sec of Defence's son, given the stakes.
