No proof of insurance = running a red light

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

No proof of insurance = running a red light

At least according to our state law it is.

A woman ran a friggin red light on my way to work this morning. I did hit my brakes, but I still T-boned her, fortunately going slow enough that neither one of us were hurt beyond being shaken up. The other woman was clearly at fault and I have a few witnesses to back me up.

But that's not what I'm mad about. First, I'm mad at my dad for forgetting to pay our family cell phone bill AGAIN so I wasn't able to report the accident on my own. One of the witnesses had to call the cops for me. Also my manager saw the wreck on her way in and pulled over to let me use her phone to call my mom and let her know I was okay and get the ball rolling on reporting the accident (my mom's also my insurance agent).

But the second thing I'm mad about is the main thing. I've been having some trouble with my insurance company lately and have been considering switching companies. Therefore when they sent me my new card, I didn't put it in my car because I wasn't completely certain I was going to stay with that company. I did have an insurance card in my car with all the correct information, same policy number, etc, but it was expired.

And my ticket cost for lack of proof, not lack of insurance, just lack of proof, was the EXACT same as the woman who ran the red light and caused the damn accident in the first place!!!

Am highly PO'ed at the moment.

poor nebbie- I'm sure when it goes to court they'll reduce the fine for no proof of insurance massively.

In Jersey they upped the tickets for driving without a license/insurance/reg to rediculous levels, like $400 iirc.

But, lesson learned. Keep your info in your car.

That's bad, but if you broke the law and got caught there's not much you can do. Remember the song:

"I fought the law
and the law won."

The only thing to do is throw your hands up and say: "Busted!"
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Consider yourself lucky Nebbie. About three years ago I hung a left at an intersection on the way home to work in my brand-*******-new-been-driving-it-for-six-months Explorer sport (totally decked out too) and some fifty+ rich ***** with his giddy girlfriend in their compact sportscar decided at sixty feet from the intersection (when their light was red) that they were too good to stop.

They were in the far right lane of oncoming and sped out into me at about forty-five to fifty mph. My knee still hurts on rainy days, like today. Totalled my ride. But here's the fun part...

Since I was hardly presentable from an honest days work at manual labor and in my twenties, and the older gentle**** that plowed into me was of the upper crust, and said crusty bastard told the police both our lights were yellow (********), out of the two cops the one that spoke to him but not me wrote the report and labelled it no fault accident.

My insurance sky-rocketed, I still had to pay off the totalled vehicle, and had to purchase a new/used piece of **** I'm still driving as I absolutely had to have a ride for the following week once I went back to work.

I'm about to have to cancel my car insurance and just drive without it soon. Just a few weeks ago some pricy lawyer chatting on his cell phone practically stops in front of me in moving traffic. I'm now paying double what I pay for the crap truck I'm driving.

*Sigh* I feel ya though Nebbie.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.
