I was walking to work today and as it's been really hot, I was wearing a loose T-shirt, man-skirt and flip-flops. Oh, and sunglasses. Anyway, as I was nearing the office these two young guys who had been watching me walk up the street stepped out in front of me, all baseball caps, hoodies, puffer jackets and bling. One of them cleared his throat and said, "Excuse me".
Oh no, I thought. Here we go. I'ma get a beating here and no mistake and I can't even run away. Running + skirt + flip-flops = disaster. Steeling myself for the inevitable, I said, "Yes?"
"Where'd you get your skirt, it's amazing!" he said, and I cracked the biggest grin I think I've ever managed. We chatted for about 10 minutes on the joys of wearing a man-skirt. Just goes to show, eh?

Of course you should judge a chav by their hoddie
I've never been bothered by anybody in a hoddie (I wear one somethimes) in London, but in Epsom someone in a hoddie with the hood up does actually equal trouble. Bored-youth small town mentality.

Well yew, to the untrained eye it may be just a skirt, but it has three main advantages over the common skirt that have led me to call it a man-skirt.
1. It's in a military colour. And I wear a lot of that anyway. Quite manly.
2. It has pockets. More like twin sporrans on either side. I can also zip the middle bit out and just wear the webbing and the pockets (admittedly with a bit of a miniskirt, but over a kilt it looks ace:
3. The same zip that allows it to be a mini skirt allows me to piss standing up at a urinal. And there's nothing wrong with that. Hell, at Transfest I got complimented in the toilets for it by a complete stranger.
Just got back from the pub, been wearing it all day. And we came 4th in the quiz and won a packet of shrips. The sweet ones, not the fishy kind. Like shrimp candy, or something. Nice, though.
[edit]Of note for those who own a Transfest comic (you lucky people) the dude on the right with the bluey kilt is Matt, who drew Begin Again

It's a skirt. Do try and keep up.Predabot wrote:What...what in the world... is that?
Because kilts aren't as sturdy? Because kilts are shorter? Because kilts don't come with built in pockets? Because kilts can't necessarily be worn over a pair of trousers?I dunno man, it looks kinda bizarre, why not just go with a normal kilt?
So if Emvee got his manskirt from his grandfather, you'd have no trouble accepting it? Or are you saying that something being traditional is more important than it being practical?I've always felt that the scottish that wear that in media looks kinda dignified: "here I am. In my grandfathers kilt. Got a problem?".
That's him. In his skirt. He likes it. Got a problem?
Grrr. Argh.

Not really. I was really quite surprised that one could find such a thing in EmmVee's closet.Brendocon wrote:That's him. In his skirt. He likes it. Got a problem?
It really doesn't look like anything I've ever seen in real life.
Where'd you get that anyway EmmVee, it doesn't like the standard H&M-wear?
And Brendocon... no. I really don't have time.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Third transvestite division, advance!
I met a girl tonight who told me that she could not countenance men in women's clothing. She said the thought of it made her sick. When I asked why, she said, it just does. Kinda sad when that sort of thing is that ingrained culturally.
Oh well. Here's one for the late shift. You love it.

Be very very careful what you wish forRebis wrote:When is Rob gonna take the camera and shoot pictures of Batman looking good in manskirts and other leg-free clothing? That's what I want to know.
Oh, and 'Bloke: it all depends on the event. With the kilt combo then yes, I was wearing that "traditionally".
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Actually I was wearing army boots. When you're a size 12 UK it's hard to get girls' shoes that fit...although there's a shop in Euston I've heard that does them, called Transformations, ironically enough.saysadie wrote:Did you have matching shoes for that dress, Emvee?
