Finally, thank f**k!
Working for a call centre, which is something I wanted. Pay isn't great, but it's enough to live on, I get to wear what I want and don't have to wear a uniform, which rocks.
I am going to a salon and getting them to dye my hair a noticeable shade of purple once the bills are taken care of. Hooray!
Job's only temporary... I'm going to school again starting the winter term. Going in to be a teacher... both my parents are/were teachers and I swore for years that I wasn't going to go that route. Time passes, things change I guess. It now seems like the perfect choice for me. Was talking to my mother the other day, guess she decided to go into it when she was my age, too. Kinda interesting, that.
The thought of college again is kinda scary for me, I've tried it twice before for two different things and wasn't able to get through it, which makes me worry... But I've got some good support now (can actually call my parents up and have a chat, which is nice) plus I'm actually going to be making good use of whatever counselling they have at the school, so hopefully this time, things will pan out.
This is pretty much pointless... I just wanted to share my happy and ****. Thanks y'all for the support and stuff that's been given. You guys fricking rock.

Yes, thank her. Thank her always.saysadie wrote:Finally, thank f**k!
Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Great news, saysadie! Congratulations and good luck!

Yeah... though I've lost any semblance of pride and owe/will owe my parents about a zillion dollars and a human sacrifice for helping me get an application in on time/helping me get funding. They've managed to cough up enough for me to get the app in and they're fairly broke themselves at the moment.
I'm not accepted yet but am reasonably sure I will be, and if I'm not immeadiately it's not the end of the world. There are other (albeit longer) ways to get 'round to it and I'll have a job in the meantime, so while I'm not completely relaxed, I'm definitely moreso than I was a month ago.
It's possible that my purple head of hair might make an appearance when I get it done. If I have purple hair I'm definitely going to want a picture of it . No access to a scanner, though I'm sure I could figure something.
I've been wanting to do the bleaching/dyeing thing for ages but couldn't. Work/was afraid of ruining my hair... Decided I may as well just give it a go now that I'm reasonably free to, though. Funds permitting.

Oh yeah... the thought freaks me out a bit. I'm very attached to my hair. I've had my hair various shades of black-purple for years, plus the temporary streaked stuff. Dyed from the natural brown, it never really looked overly purple to me... More blackish- reddish purple that only really showed when under certain circumstances of light and the colour always faded/brassed too quickly for my tastes.Eline wrote:I did dye my hair purple once, or actually, red with purple and black streaks in. Pretty cool, but they have to de-colour your hair to make it purple which means you will end up with yellow-straw-like hair afterwards.

Believe me, I have had every colour hair under the sun, from red to orange to pink, blue, black, white, blonde, purple and green. I can offer the following advice:
1. Bleach your hair. This isn't fun, and it may well sting a bit, but you can get hyrdogen peroxide bleach from any chemist relatively cheaply. If you want to pamper yourself a bit, get one of the L'Oreal jobbies, because you're worth it. Just mix it up and paint it through with a brush - you may need someone to help with that. To help matters along, you can put a plastic bag on your head, or even tinfoil and a hair dryer - this is particularly funny as the top of your head looks like an Easter egg Keep checking underneath though, you'll be able to see when it's all bleached through. Be sure to add loads of conditioner afterwards, as bleach strips moisture from the hair.
2. Choose your colour wisely. Semi-permanent hair colours, like everything, vary wildly in performance and staying power. I know that Directions and Crazy Colour are pretty good, but I speak from about 10 years ago and 2000 miles away, so that's probably not too useful. Ask around, if you know people with dyed hair, they'll point you towards the best colours to use.
3. Have fun! It's great having cool hair, people look at you for just that second longer in the street

This is the step I'm most hesitant about (I have a lot of hair, and it's fairly long), I mean... bleaching my hair, ack. I've seen bad bleach jobs. They scare me. Plus I'm afraid of the damage and all, etc... but yeah, it's gonna happen.Metal Vendetta wrote:1. Bleach your hair.
I think (for this first time anyway) I'm going to a salon. It may be more expensive but whoever's doing it will definitely know more than I about what needs to be done.
Yesss. I've had my hair black, purple-black, red-black, blue-black (Basically the entire L'Oreal Noir line, ) brown with blonde streaks, black with red/green/purple/blue streaks... The latest has been straight auburn (and about three shades lighter than I've ever gone, which freaked me out when I first saw it) and oddly enough I've gotten more compliments on that colour than any other.3. I've been thinking of green, too. It just looks like a fun colour. Maybe once I've gotten purple out of my system. Thanks for the advice, Emvee! .
