Pale Rider

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Old. Can't rememebr when. 70's or 80's.
It's directed by Clinted Eastwood. A seriously underrated film maker.

Great film. Clint Eastwood is fantastic. Love his movies. When I was a kid I used to try and emulate his squint, and I stayed up late to watch his films on TV...ended up seeing The Outlaw Josey Wales and Escape From Alcatraz about 4 times each doing that though, they were on all the time.
I really just though he was the best, better than Han Solo even.

Read a biography of him last year, it was pretty critical but still fascinating.
Haven't seen Million Dollar Baby or Mystic River yet, haven't found the time.

Umm... Eastwood won two academy awards as director, and was nominated for a third. He was also nominated twice for best actor.

Somehow I don't call that 'underrated.' :eyebrow:

I said under-rated. But what the f##k do Oscars mean? Ron Howard has one but Hitchock, Orson Welles, Scorsea all do not.Oscars have never been a good indicator of quality and nobpody claims Oscar winning pictures are the greatest films these days.

The reason I said "under-rated" because Eastwood rarely gets discussed and appreciated as a director. Hitchcock, Spielberg etc gets regular disection in "Culture" supliments, movie magazines and books. Eastwoods contribution to cinema often gets view as his Leone films and unforgiven. Considering he has directed equally as good and infulential films as a director it's clear his work behind the camera gets overlooked and is thus "underrated". I never clained people haven't rewarde dhim for being good butI still think he is under-rated as he is never spoken in the same bredth as scoresa or Spielberg when he is equally as good.

Few people bang on about how great his films are or what an infulence Eastwood is. You rarely see much examination of the quality of his work. thats under-rated.
