Damn money. It seems to be the be-all and end-all these days. I was only thinking this yesterday, so this is a surprise to find this topic that kind of reflects that.
As for Bush, didn't he (or was it Bush Snr) have links to the Bin Ladens too? Despite his 'moron' image, I just don't trust Bush - or ANY politicians, really - to do the right thing for their country - which is the point of their position, isn't it?

That's just it- bush isn't a moron. He might not be an effective leader in many respects, but that doesn't mean he's not cunning and devious.
His attitude to homosexuals for example.
Many think he's just an ignorant homophobe. He isn't.
People who've workeed closely with him have reported that Bush does't care about us- neither for nor against. We're so utterly insignificant we don't even appear on his radar.
To him all we are is an issue which wins voters. Kick us a bit and the religious right starts hailing victories for common sense.
He's very devious and very very bad imo.

Salright sweets, I picked up on your wording I was backing you up ^_^ You're quite right that he is nowhere near as dumb as he looks.I know where you're coming from - I did write it was 'moron' IMAGE. It probably makes people underestimate him alot.
Although, to be not bothered either way about a chunk of the country is a bit dumb on his part - gay people still vote (unless he stops that Rolling Eyes ).
The merging of the Republican party with the Right and Religious right was an absolutely brilliant move. Enough people all together who, if thrown enough of the right sort of attitudes and token gestures, will happily queue up to vote for you, hopefully giving you the edge over the other lot.
Long as the Republicans keep mentioning 'God' at difficult moments, don't ban handguns and continue to stand up for attitudes which really went past their sell-by date in the 70s I think they will continue to garner support.
Vast tracts of the US aren't populated by Religious nut-jobs, but most people there are Christian and they also feel comfortable having what they seen as the status quo reinforced as the right thing to do- i.e. gay rights should be curtailed, foreigners are to be mistrusted, the US is something everyone should always be proud of, the government will always do the right thing.
All this leaves the Democrats, with their base of left-wingers, progressivists and homosexuals, trying to think of a way of appealing to these people without sounding like left-wing extremists or incompetant governors. Something like the exact opposite of what the Conservative party face here in the UK, but with a far narrower gap between the two in terms of votes.

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

I think a big part of it is people try to work on the principle of utilitarianism, i.e. which leader brings the least amount of suffering?
Like that Simpsons ep where sideshow bob runs for mayor?
"Well he did frame me... but I'm aching for that upper class tax break!"
"I don't agree with his Bart killing policy, but I do agree with his Selma killing policy!"
I think it's literally something like that.
"Well he did lie to us over Iraq, but Iraq is now a democracy!
I don't agree with his stance on homosexuality, but I'm pleased with my $300 tax refund!
I disagree with his views on stem cell research, but he's done well securing the future of our oil industry (by invading Iraq)" etc. etc.

See, but here's the messed up thing: you have to look at it from his point of view. And his point of view as an evangelical Christian is, "God created Earth for man to use, so for us NOT to rape its resources would be going against God's desires. Armageddon WILL happen, so the concept of "conserving or preserving" is ridiculous and unnessecary, as we'll all be in God's Kingdom by the time that stuff becomes a factor."Best First wrote:When i say moron i mean in the sense that if you prioritise retaining power over not ****ing up the planet you are an idiot.
Seriously. It's more screwed up here then you guys could ever imagine. If the world were a car where the US has been in the driver's seat since WWII, I would please implore for someone to take the keys away from us and go sit in the back for awhile, because we've lost it.

Bush is a c##t.
This is the 1050th bit of information which confirms it.
Earth is going to hell, in part due to this selfish, ignorant, stupid, narrow minded, power grubbing, arrogant wanker and the most ignorant voters in the entire universe.
Clinton for 2008.
That is all.

Heard on the radio that Bush claimed the US spends more on climatic research than anywhere else.
Yeah, but George, I don't think big fat wads of pay-off to make leading scientists in their fields say "Global Warming is a load of crock! Here's some ice cubes I made earlier!" counts, really.
Oh, and Bush==Palpatine, only he's not as good at acting.

Clinton in 2008 will stop the bleeding.
Get rid of corporations running the government, turn our country back from an oligarchy to a democracy, spend more money on schools and health care than bombs and missiles?
That's going to take a revolution.

Yeah, Bush doesn't, but it's namely because Autobloke doesn't have enough oil for him to take interest.Shanti418 wrote:Well, Bush doesn't care about you, then, you HEATHEN!!!!

I'll be glad when all the oil runs out, then those billionare arabs who spend millions on jewel-encrusted butt-wipers and rediculously tall buildings will be less annoying.

Don't worry, I think he meant GEORGE Clinton.
