Anyone else see this truely AWFUL movie?
The character was so whiney - not like in the DD movie. And the kid was the 'hero'?!
The fighting was lame. And I'm still not sure how Electra overcame her obviously superior opponent at the end.
Also just watching the director's cut of Daredevil. Anyone else seen it? Do they think it's better than the original cut, or just a poor film with added poor film?

I thought that. It improve it but it's still rubbish.Autobloke wrote: Also just watching the director's cut of Daredevil. Anyone else seen it? Do they think it's better than the original cut, or just a poor film with added poor film?
As for Electra I'm avoiding it for the same reasons as Snarl as well as the fact it's reviews have been much worse than Daredevil.

I've seen []Electra[/i] and thought it was rather poor. I hate all those Matrix-esque fights and this movie hadn't much more than that.
The kid was a bit too much, yes.
What's funny, right after Electra, I saw Catwoman. Maybe it's because I hadn't heard anything good beforehand about it, so I didn't have much hope, but I kinda liked it. I'd liked it even more if Patience had different costume. Or none at all.

No, as in: regular clothes, like those she wore on her first night out.
I like Daredevil, too.

I'd read all the bad reveiws on Catwoman, but really enjoyed the film. Okay, it wasn't a brilliant film, but it put Electra to utter shame. And I don't like Hallie Berry (or however it's spelt). I quite fancy Jennifer Garner (never watched Alias though), but Electra made me want to stab my eyes out with it's crapness.
I've still got the last hour of the Daredevil director's cut to watch, so I'll reserve judgement until then. I just got the double boxset with Electra and Daredevil DC 'cos it was cheap. The featurette on the comics of Electra was nice though.

As a die-hard comic fan, I shocked my friends when I told them that I wouldn't see Catwoman. Ever. I'm making it a life-goal to never see that movie.
Electra...wasn't as bad as I'd thought it would be. But then again, you have no idea how bad I thought it was going to be, so... I'll probably rent or buy the Director's Cut of Electra when it comes out later this year because I'm really quite stupid.
I really liked Daredevil. I liked the Daredevil Director's Cut even more. It did a better job capturing Miller's original story than the theatrical version did. If you watch the "Making Of" feature on the Director's Cut they pretty much say, "Yeah, people seeing it in theaters are a bunch of idiots who don't understand good stuff, so we put out a generic action movie. We put the version we wanted to do on this version."

Indeed. Quoted above is evidence that Elektra is bad enough that it makes catwoman look goodBest First wrote:Hmm Elekta..

If the sycophants at ITV label somthing anything beyond positive it really must be awful.

Electra felt like they just took a whole bunch of random elements and threw them together, and it ended up being less than the sum of its parts. The things that happen are random and nonsensical, the fights are ridiculous, and no single element is fully explored or explained.

My Top Five Peeves:
- Why do they introduce that Elektra has OCD and then never actually involve it in the story? I only noticed three occasions where she did something "obsessive." It felt like it was just thrown in one scene and completely forgotten the next.
- Why do simple physics get thrown out the window? I realize that a superhero/martial arts film, the laws of physics don't mean much, but there is some stuff that is very glaring. How can Elektra throw a sai with a perfectly flat trajectory? It doesn't matter how hard you throw something, because even bullets are subject to the laws of gravity. Check out "Gladiator" for an example of how thrown objects should behave.
- Why don't they actually explain anything about anything? Elektra, the good ninjas, the bad ninjas, the dad, the little girl, the Hand badguys... not a single one of them has any explanation for who they are, why they're there, or how they ended up that way.
- Elektra's line about sai being an "offensive weapon" is complete *#$&!. First off, real sai are blunt. The only place you see sharp sai is on TV. (I'm not going into what's wrong with saying 'offensive' in the first place)
- The villains were awful. The tatoo guy was a neat idea, but (like everything else in this movie) just wasted potential. Typhoid Mary's only purpose was to add a little bit of homoeroticism. And why is it that a dude who can take a shotgun blast to the chest gets killed by a tree falling on him? A shotshell at that range would cut a normal person in half, and would surely do more damage than a tree.

In the comics all of the Hand's warriors are people who have been killed and resurrected by evil magic. They're full of green goo because they're some sort of undead. I think this was supposed to be their way of showing that these villains are supernatural abominations.Autobloke wrote:And why do all the bad guys (and gal) die in a puff of green smoke?
