A Feast For Crows

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

So, it's done, but neither of my current favorites, Danaerys or Jon Snow, will be in it. Or possibly even Tyrion. Sigh... The sad thing is, I'm going to shell out thirty bucks, I'm going to devour it, and I still won't like it as much as the others. This big fantasy series thing is a no-win sitch for the reader.

I'm hoping against hope that it will be good.

I enjoyed it, once it got going and I got used to the radical shift in perspective characters and locations.

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

I got distracted by posts about the 2008 election and All Hail Megatron.

Seriously though, I eventually got a better handle on Feast by deciding that the first three were a trilogy of their own, and that Feat was the first book in a sequel series.

"Well we've done all that. Now we start again in another part of Westeros and build into a new arc."

Ho hum.

Is the new one out yet?

Also, the angst. This board is much more contented than it used to be. There was an existential crisis post once a month in 2007.

It's the economy. We're all too worried about being poor to worry about our personal lives.

Feast is the weakest book in the series, but Dance of Dragons is a refreshing change of pace from the doldrums. If you haven't picked it up yet, I recommend it. The pieces are finally beginning to move towards the final showdown.
