Cool thread.
Good Things About:
Buster Witwicky and the Carwash of Doom
-The lettering of the title in the credits. Ratbat is certainly inventive; he also seems to have a knack of making bonkers plans sound really sensible and completely the best thing to do and if you disagree with him it's because you're educationally subnormal. Or at least that's the vibe I get from him.
Rock & Roll Out
-"Skywarp, the fleshlings fly to meet us. Toss them a cube." Always makes me think of cubed cheese for some reason....um, Skids is endearing, no? Come to think of it, all the newbie TFs get slightly more indepth character introductions than "I'm X and I can do Y". Facsimilie human drivers and covering up Autobot symbols was interesting.
Cash & Carnage (The Roadjammer story)
- Splitting up the Autobot team into 2 Sparklers and 1 Triggerbot. Yeah, so they all had to be cars, but still. Mr. Z, Mr. K etc is a level of stupid-funny that's allright, I guess.
Raiders of the Last Ark
-Megs using his abilities is quite scary to a 5yr old. Early signs of Ravage being a favourite. Nice to see Windcharger use his abilities, as everyone said.
The first Marvel TF/GiJoe crossover
-Ummm....Duke's (or was it Hawk's?) heart gets broken by a treacherous lady love! And then she gets her head blown off! Proving that a bad US soap opera storyline is handled better than one involving giant alien shapechanging robots battling terrorists and eco-destruction. What's my point? I have no idea.
Dreamwave's Micromasters
-That Don F cover with the golden disk is pretty nifty, if totally misleading. The Micromaster character viewpoint flashback that had Ultra Magnus saying "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH" made me laugh. That's it.
Dreamwave's RID story
-Meant we almost got a BW comic instead.
Bad Things about:
The Harder They Die (UK 98 )
-Having a Guardian unit be the one to take Prime down is a shame. Shoulda been a Wrecker, or even more than one. Still, I guess it set them up for the next part, oh Doh!, I'm finding excuses for it now, hush my fingers. Damn, this is a lovely issue.
Victory
Squee! Oooh, I heart this story! Oh, um, bad things...Megatron is coloured gold?
War Without End
-It's not actually drawn by Simon Bisley.
The original Carnivac saga
-Impenetrable Pretender shell in no use at all shocker.
The final two parts of Matrix Quest
-Thunderwing's 'BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA *punch someone*' routine a little grating?
