Turin Brakes - Jackinabox

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Turin Brakes - Jackinabox

Post by Hound » Mon May 30, 2005 6:58 pm

I have always loved Turin Brakes, they did the folky poppy thing so well with those beautiful 2 part harmonies. Dreamy.

I never expected them to change direction like they have on the new album. The current single, Fishing For a Dream, doesn't really do it justice. Its probably one of the most upbeat, heartfelt and warm albums I have heard for a long time.

BUY IT!

Also, excited about Colplay, out next week, having heard some of the new stuff, it pushes them in ways they have never pushed before. Wonderful anthemic stuff.

is this something colplay said in the press? Not a quote that has gone down well really!

But then if I spent months creating something that I really cared about and felt passionately for, I would probably resent the most irritating cash cow ever created beating me to the top of the charts.

AFAIK he doesn't get a penny. Something about uploading it to the public domain and stuff. He's poor AND has to be tortured by his own creation!

I know it's not original to say so, but I ******* hate that frog. The advert was on 3 ******* times in one commercial break last night.

Whichever festering **** owns that **** must be raking it in-last time I checked, TV advertising isn't cheap and it's on in most commercial breaks on multiple channels.

Certainly the DJ whos mixed the current version must be making some... but I would guess most of that will be swallowed by the company that owns the rights to it. I'm sure I read their name today but it eludes me atm :(

Jamster.

I'd think a piece of the current pie would be going to Harold Faltermeyer, or whomever wrote Axel F anyway.

You want me to buy the Turin Brakes album? But I just ordered a shedload of CDs - Coldplay, Oasis, The Foos, White Stripes, Gorillaz, Idlewild, The Tears and the last Puressence album... you'd have me spend more money? I'll crash the economy!
Grrr. Argh.

Hmm...

They had one ok single in 2001, but I've never liked Turin Breaks, the word 'dull' springs to mind.
