If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

rio ferdinand gtes a fine and only a 1 month ban for speeding. He was caught taking over a police car

This is his 4th conviction.

4th time. It's the 4th time he's done it and he was going at 105mph ahs drunk and driven before and heonly gets a month?

I've never ever heard of anyone I've ever know getting less than 3 months and thats creaping over 40 mph without really concentrating and hurrying home.

Again it's one rule for us and anotehr for the rich and fanous. No wonder our streets a dominated by dirty chavs with ASBOs. Nobody in their right ind believes their's a fair and just legal system.

Dont see a problem with it to be honest.

105 in a 70 zone isnt uncommon and IMO perfectly safe in his Chrysler on the M6.
I do that everyday with millions of others.

The fine of £1500 is massive compared to what I would get, and his ban for a month is normall.

If uses up all his points on speeding he will get a total ban just like you or me, its not one rule for us and one for him.

Do you have any idea how many ppl are caught speeding everyday in the UK by police or on Camera?

his drink driving offence was served in 1997 - is he guilty forever then? -no.

No but repeating a offence twice more means he's not doing anything at all be innocent of it in future.

he hasnt repeated the offence of drink driving.
he has speeded.
Even your link says thats.

As for speeding, why do you think your license has points onit?
otherwise it would be a total 2 year Ban with retest for exceeding 30mph...

Sorry but speeding (all of 105...wow) in a very safe car on a motorway (the M6) doesnt deserve more then 3 points, 1 month and a ban.

Did you know if he had be going 90mph he would have just got points.

Its all relative IMO, his car is safe at that speed, and the 70mph limit is crap anyway, most care can travel at that speed now very safely.
hence why the AA wants the limit raised.

I never said he repeated the drink driving offence. I'm just saying that 4 offenses is surley more than enough. And I've not seen a normal person ever get less than 3 months either. For more suport look at Pennent. footballers clearly think they can get away with anything.

his drink driving offence, the most serious of offences was in 97. which is over 5 years ago and the court will consider his 'character' changed in that time.
And as he has served a sentance should not be considered.

More importantly, if I was caught doing what he had done its more likely my fine would be lower. he has been given the maximum, very unusual and clearly given to him because of who he is. so hes probably thinking, "one rule for me, and one rule for non famous ppl"

I feel the law was fair in this case I have no issue with it.

Jermain pennant was so drunk he crashed his car - bit different to doing 105 like the rest of the nation.

There's nothing uncommon about it. Members of the Royal Family have been known to rip up speeding fines in front of policemen before driving off.

The old adage "All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others" leaps to mind...

the point is tho he has been given a fine far higher then us average humans would have been given.
His ban is normal for that speed.

His fine reflects his social status.

The drink driving ban is over 5 years old, insurance companies won't even rate on it.

If he's had 4 convictions and the DR10 or whatever drink driving code it was has expired, the other 3 should only amount to 9 points on his licence (Speeding convictions are rarely more than 3 points, even for Joe Average). You or I would not be be banned at that point.

Rio will pay extortinate rates for his insurance also, insurers do not like to cover celeb's. These new points on his licence will increase his premium by a hell of a lot.

And his income I should hope. Not that £1500 would mean anything to him either, surely its equivalent to me being fined about 50p?
