Am I the only one who thinks Kirsty Gallacher is an absolutely apalling newsreader? I've never seen her get through a story without tripping over her words or something.
"So, you want to work for Sky Sports News?"
"Yes!"
"Right. You're hot. You've got a famous dad. Any actual experience in this field?"
"What field?"
"Oh, sod it. You're primetime!"

Sorry, normally been too preoccupied when she's on screen to actually listen to her!Brendocon wrote:Am I the only one who thinks Kirsty Gallacher is an absolutely apalling newsreader? I've never seen her get through a story without tripping over her words or something.

It's rather disturbing that a woman with a pretty face has this rather... negative impact on people imo. She has little competance in the job but that's alright because she's pretty. That's a trifle shallow, don't you think? Rather objectifying view of female television workers also? I'm with Brend and Snarlos.

That as well, but that extends to sport in generalBest First wrote:in that you beleive Sky sports could blind a man?Karl Lynch wrote:I'm with...Snarlos.
Depends, when put against the backdrop of things like "She talks to??" and "too preoccupied to actually listen to her" it might seem rather shallow. I'm not entirely sure equality infers listening to serious stuff from men/unattractive women and that pretty women are only on screen to be hooted at by men with nothing better to do.If I find a woman pretty, I'll happily watch her on my TV screen.
If I want serious news, I'll change the channel.
Is that disturbing?
That's not necessarily aimed at you, 'bloke' culture is just something I've never understood and find vaguely insulting as I then get lumped along with the stereotype.

My old housemate Toni and I used to go out with friends, they'd still be sipping their first pint and we'd be onto our third blue WKD or something! We looked at each other worredly, and I observed
"eek... we're turning into a pair of winos!"
however since I gave up booze I now have more money for random ebayness...

Wasn't Martin Lewis the housewives' newsreader of choice once? Was that just because of the news too?Karl Lynch wrote:I'm not entirely sure equality infers listening to serious stuff from men/unattractive women and that pretty women are only on screen to be hooted at by men with nothing better to do.
Isn't that a form of equality?

I wouldn't call it a negative impact at all!Karl Lynch wrote:It's rather disturbing that a woman with a pretty face has this rather... negative impact on people imo.
Well... it didn't work for Kelly Brook on Big Breakfast did it?Karl Lynch wrote: She has little competance in the job but that's alright because she's pretty.
Ms Gallacher has cornered the "blokes" TV arena by a) being good looking and b) talking (trying to in somecases it appears) about football.
Pretty Girl + Football = TV bosses' dream
And she knows it too.

Inequality I think you mean? And I think it is. The whole entertainment industry is built on it. That's probably a seperate argument tho. I'd be interested to know how often ML was cosidered as merely an object to be stared at by housewives as this young lady obviously is by sports fans.spiderfrommars wrote:Wasn't Martin Lewis the housewives' newsreader of choice once? Only in my sight, which as we all know has no bearing on anything outside of me head. But its a discussion board and I felt like breaking the list of 'PHWOAR she's hot missus!' responsesI wouldn't call it a negative impact at all!

No, I meant equality. As in, men aren't the only ones who lust after newsreaders!Karl Lynch wrote:Inequality I think you mean? And I think it is. The whole entertainment industry is built on it. If you're suggesting the entertainments industry is inherently sexist, yes I suppose thats something else...

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Karl, anyone who lumps you along with the stereotype of 'bloke' culture would have to be deaf, dumb and blind...or have you shaved your head, got a tattoo and an England shirt and started drinking pints of lager?Karl Lynch wrote:...'bloke' culture is just something I've never understood and find vaguely insulting as I then get lumped along with the stereotype.
Incidentally I got an England shirt the other week. It's red with the three lions crest on it, and just above where it would normally say "England" it says "Bollocks". I love the word "Bollocks". I'm teaching it to the San Franciscans
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!
