Is anyone watching this / Has anyone watched it?

People in Sweden are going crazy about it. Where ever I go there's some dude or gal talking about it.
I have never seen it though - and I don't tryst my fellow swedes judgement.

So, Transfans; Is Lost wort watching?
And most importantly: What the hell is the show about?!
Can't believe I'm still here.

I have only seen the advertisements for it.

It looks to be a soap/show about people being stuck on a deserted/remote tropical island. And all the problems they face, and the psychological stuff.

Looks interesting, but have never seen it. None of my friends are talking about it, either.

Everyone's gaga over it here in the States. I don't watch it either, but I know that large parts of the series are about things such as mysterious happenings/things on the island, and the pecuilarly not coincidental way the lives of the stranded people had unknowingly intersected and crossed before they were on the island.

Wasn't there a movie a couple of years ago with that same plot, but set in a motel or something? Then people started dying.

As for the TV show you mention, I doubt it'll be any great loss(t) if I don't bother with it.
Unless anyone can make it sound better than I think it is...

I've caught a few episodes of it and wasn't bored out of my mind by it. The main hook seems to be less the psychological ramifications of being stranded on the island, but rather the underlying idea the writers are pushing that something is "off" with the island.

Personally, I'll just go read Lord of the Flies again.

It's a pretty good show, at least in my eyes. It's made by the guy who created Alias, and it shows. Like Alias, it's a show that you've got to watch every week if you want to understand what's going on. If you don't, it'll probably seem mediocre and confusing. If you can find the time to watch every week, though, I'd say it's worth the investment.

I'd say that both points are stressed more or less equally, actually... the fact that there's something not quite kosher with the island itself sometimes tales a backseat to the 'flashback' aspect, and at times the flashback aspect takes a backseat to the strangeness of the island.

The flashbacks to the past for each passenger gradually gives a bit of detail about each and how they may or may not be related to another person they're trapped on the island with and adds background to the character. Gives new facets to each, I guess. I think it's the more interesting aspect... it's a part of the reason I've followed it as much as I have, anyway.

Yeah, that's it pretty much. It's a good show, but it's a bit of a pain because of the abovementioned... Miss an ep or two and you might miss important plot points, etc and be almost completely 'lost' yourself the next time you sit to watch it. :p

I came into it a few eps in and became hooked rather fast, but then I sometimes found I was too busy to watch tv so I slowly lost track of what was happening (plus they showed so many repeats that I just couldn't be bothered after awhile). Was losing interest until they had a 'recap' episode made up entirely of snippets from the previous shows. Got nicely caught up but not really as into it as I was anymore... I will be seeing what's what the next time it's on if I'm not busy though.

Lost = Plenty of eyecandy, therefore I watch it. I try not to get to into the plotline cause I don't get to watch it every week because of school, so I'm not confused next time I have a chance to skip class.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Starts Wednesday 10th August on Channel 4 if any England-based peeps are interested.
I'll watch the first one at least, just to see what all the fuss was about when this thread first appeared.

It's an awesome show, probably the best of the past season. The creators have at least said that they've learnt from past genre shows about leaving people hanging with crap plots, X-Files anyone.

Yeah the season finale left me a bit dissapointed but the rest of the season, and knowing that next will be great, keeps me going.

That and the DVD set is going to have some great extras.

I just noticed from the trailers that Emilie de Ravin is in the show - I SO fancied her when she was in Roswell (pity she was secretly evil :( ). I'm currently watching all three seasons of Roswell on DVD so far, so it was a nice to surprise to see her in the trailer for Lost.
If anything, the show will be worth watching for her being in it (and she's a little bit older now too :swirly: so I won't feel such a dirty perv for slobbering over her).
Looking forward to the show even MORE now. :headbang:

Perhaps. But I 'went' with a loverly lady who looked like Emilie de Ravin.
Only once - but it has left an impression on me.

I meant a different Fluffy - the one that ISN'T the 'Destroyer of Worlds' - the Primus against that there particular Fluffy's Unicron-like nature.
Then again, my brain is in backwards, so that may explain things a bit.

I sincerely hope that we get our cable TV back for the start of the new season... I miss CSI, CSI Miami, House, MythBusters, and Lost.

I haven't even seen the season finale of Lost yet. I was out the night it was on so I got my sister to tape it and then I forgot about it. Then I moved and forgot the tape at home.
