Arg! My boss wants to 'have a talk'

He suggested we have a talk tomorrow, about my workload.

Now is this good or bad?

On one hand, it might be that I'm not working hard enough. On the other hand, it might be that there is too much to do and he wants to discuss what I should and should not do.

But I don't know which one it is, so I'm a bit scared. Does anyone have experience with this? I think I need to prepare something for tomorrow...

Well, do you feel that you're working hard or do you think that you have spare time on your hands?
If you're working hard then it should be good as at least he is aware of the fact and might be trying to find a solution.
If you've not got enough work to keep you hard at it, then why is it? Is it that you are not being given enough to do by others or is it that you're not finding enough work to do? Whose responsiblity is it to give you work?

Which ever way, it's nothing to be scared about. Even if it is the fact that you're not working enough, then he might be trying to help to find you more things to do...

I'm constantly being 'talked to' by the powers at be, normally because of my timekeeping in the mornings tho... they tend to not want to talk to me about workloads and such like because they all know i'm normally over worked.

Doesn't sound too ominous. If he'd said he wants to talk about your workrate, there'd be cause for concern. But workload... I'd be inclined to think it's a "how are you coping?" kinda thing... find out if you're being overstretched.

But then I can be wrong. Occasionally. I tend to kill the witnesses, but every now and then it happens...

WORKload isnt a problem. WANKload is just innappropriate to be asked about by your boss.

Thanks, guys. Sometimes I think I'm working hard enough, but other times maybe I could make things happen faster.

I don't know, you always have the feeling that you could try harder... plus I'm very insecure.

I'll try to relax and see what happens... go to the gym tonight to clear my head.

Okay, I still have a job

I explained why one task was taking a lot of time, and he did not know exactly what I was doing, so that is sorted. Now I don't have to do it, so I can concentrate on other things.

And we discussed other things I'm doing, and I showed some ideas I had, so it was quite a good talk.

And sexy clothes will not help me in this, especially since I want to have a career, and not sex.

I feel I should point out that sexy clothes always help. Whether it's in your career or in a courtroom, people always make judgements about you based on how you look. It shouldn't ever be necessary to show a bit of skin but it never hurts.

Believe me, I have loads of interviews coming up, I'm going to be choosing my clothes with GREAT care.

I'll keep that in mind!

But I wanted to look professional, and not obviously sexy. Though I did wear clothes that make my body look good (a fitted jacket and nice pants) and my hair was nice and curly. I like the more subtle sexy, without the cleavage and the miniskirt.
