If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Is Channel 4 just a big long advert for E4?

It damn well feels that way.
A half decent show? Promote the next next episode for E4.
Hot new US show being brought over? It's on E4 first.
Big brother highlights? Watch it 24/7 on E4.
Decent outro music? Talkover it with another5nadvert for everything being on E4.
HAs there been anything decently or mildly popular on C4 that has not has a E4 advert rudly inserted into an inmappropiate place?
Can Channel 4 actually claim it's not a tesertial version of UK Gold, A repeat channel?
After all thers veey little that's not simply a E4 repeat.
At least BBC3 and BBC4 have original shows

BBC3 and BBC4 produce content to be recycled back to BBC2 and the general pool of BBC material—it's a perfect testing ground. C4 actually have to make E4 pay commercially.

All the terristrial channels carry on like that now.
What particularly gets my goat is ITV being called ITV1. Since I don't have satellite, its all a kick in the face really.

I remember ITV2 coming out, and joking that it would be a channel for all those programmes that aren't quite good enough for ITV. How right I was.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

C4 was, till recently, publicly subsidised as well as advertisment funded. It just decided to make **** that twats lap up and 'earned' the right to sell it's own airtime.
