From Dec 5th 2005, gay couples will allowed to be married under the new civil partnership laws.

Great for homosexuals who live in the UK I suppose. And I guess it is a stepping-stone for other west-european countries to go after when deciding about taking similar laws.

But I don't feel any greater impact on myself with this law.

I'm happy for Carly tho,

he's now got one more legal opporttunity if he ever decides to settle down.

well you wouldnt as your not gay and dont live in the UK?

But seriously, its important in a lawfull sense, next of Kin etc and contracts etc that only apply due to marriage. some hae argued that by allowing gay ppl to partake in a legally binding contract it might make thier own relationships seem more serious.
It of course allows for the proper recognition that any human being has and can choose.

Marriage isnt honestly about religon in any sense - its about two ppl and a contract.
and unfortuantly in the modern world thats more important.
