The Dears

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

The Dears

Does anybody like The Dears? They're a great indie band hailing from Montreal, Canada.

They played The Zodiac, Oxford last night and my BBC mate got us backstage after. Talked to the genius lead singer and the groupie-magnet guitarist for ages. The singer even bought me a drink.

Spiderfrommars, friend to the stars! It even rhymes.

Their music is kinda The Smiths/Blur/Joy Division-ish.

They're your fellow countrymen - give 'em a shot! :)

They also told me about an up and coming Canadian singer-songwriter called Patrick Watson, but I've never heard of him.

The Dears? With a name like that, they're sure to be faves with grannies everywhere.

Have heard of them. May even have heard stuff by them, but can't be sure. My current radio exposure is limited to Chris "Annoying **** who talks nonstop rather than playing music" Moyles on the way to work, and Radio 1's "we play what the idiot listeners ask for, provided we want to" Drivetime bit. Hence, seldom is good music heard. :(
Grrr. Argh.

I know, outside of London or digital, radio sucks big time.

I can't listen to Moyles. He makes me want to kill things. :(

I cant stand Moyles, but far worse is the egotistical sperm of the devil that is Colin Murray. I hate that man...

Intend to give them a shot. Again, I've heard of Patrick Watson but I don't know that much about him. I think he does jazz..
