looking back on - X-Files

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Enjoyed the first couple of seasons, but then just couldn't be bothered with it anymore. Premise maybe wasn't strong enough to hold long-term interest without getting hideously contrived/convoluted?

Not seen any of it in years, though.
Grrr. Argh.

I really enjoyed the first season - but the season when Mulder left I just didn't bother anymore.

The DVD's are on my "must buy list" 8)
Can't believe I'm still here.

I would always make sure to watch whenever they had a "mythology" episdoe. I would always run the other way whenever they just had a stand alone episode, though.

I missed all of the last season, too, which kinda pissed me off. I'd at least like to know how it ends. (The answer's probably, "enigmatic, vague, and open")

My favorite sci fi series from the 90s was Babylon 5, hands down.

Too many plot holes.

Anyone seen the movie lately? At the end, when Scully's naked (except for Mulder's coat wrapped around her), Mulder's exhausted, his vehicle is outta juice and they're miles from anywhere in the middle of the Antarctic? Next scene - they're back in Washington.

It's like the Tunguska one - one minute Mulder's in the middle of Siberia with a dude coming towards him ready to cut off his arm, the next - he's back in Washington, quipping about how he still has two arms.

Rubbish. They might as well have teleporters.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

It was quite popular here, but I never got into it. I saw few episodes from first two seasons, but they didn't make me want to see more.

See, eggs-files started good, but they kept pulling that almost revelation followed by oops, no you don't thing. And that works for a while, but the story arcs fell into a very predictable formula and it couldn't keep it up. That said, there were still a few good one off episodes in there. Like the creepy inbred rednecks episode, where they wheel out mum from under the bed. ick

It was good till seaon 4 (In fairness season 3 & 4 being "okay") but after that i lost interest, became too reptitive.

s**ts all over Buffy though.

I liked the first two seasons, but the conspiracies got too complicated for me after that.

The only thing I remember from the movie is the 'almost-kiss'. I swear half the theater was going 'do it! do it! do it!' and the other half was going 'no! no! no!'

EDIT: Guess I don't have proper grammar skillz this late...
