Haul-a-rama!

Post by Neo Challenger » Mon Jan 03, 2005 11:23 pm

Well, the credit card's been good to me lately... Over the last couple of weeks, I've added a few TFs to my collection: Alternators Dead End and Meister, Universe BIAB Ultra Magnus/Treadshot and Nemesis Prime, Energon Kicker and Highwire as well as Steamhammer, Sledge, Duststorm, and Sky Shadow. Also, TRU reissue Ricochet, Superlink Inferno Volt, Nightscream Reverse, and the Bruticus giftset. Anyone know the Japanese names for the Bruticus team members BTW? Oh, and the KMart exclusive SWAT team. And this one's not officially a TF, but the Masterpiece VFA-6Z Alpha Veritech is something I've wanted as a toy for a very long time.

And, of course, I have a nice box with the first batch of Galaxy Force toys on the way from BBTS...

:D A nice, big box from BBTS showed up today, packed full of Galaxy Force goodness! Galaxy Convoy, Master Megatron, Dreadrock, Excellion, Starscream, Jackshot, Vector Prime (who looks for all the world like Alpha Trion) and both Micron sets (and I've gotta tell ya, the little helicopter Micron looks like 7-Zark-7 from Battle of the Planets, the American bastardization of Gatchaman, but the other two are cool; the other Micron set is a recolor of the Street Speed Team with minor remolding!). These have got to be some of the finest TFs made to date! The detail is just mind-boggling, with exquisite spray ops and great features. Excellion, for example, totally channels G1 Hot Rod; when you put him in robot mode, there's three lasers/pipes sculpted on the inside of the doors that are clearly an homage to Hot Rod's forearm blasters.

If you like TFs, YOU MUST HAVE THESE TOYS!! I can't wait to see what's next in the line...

Onslaught, Swindle, Brawl, Vortex, and Blast Off. 8) The copters should be obvious to figure out, as would be Onslaught - the lighter-colored tank is Swindle, the darker Brawl.

Added Galaxy Force 'Road Bullet' and the reissue Insecticons to the ever-growing piles of Japanese plastic today. I'm thinking about the reissue Predaking, but it still seems a bit pricey. In any case, the Galaxy Force stuff will keep me happy for a while. These newest TFs just flat-out ROCK.

I normally post my hauls in the Chat box, but it's off the wack now, or something.

Last week, three of those chase Corona Sparkplugs in blue, orange and silver. This week, Energon SLugslinger and Sharkticon.

For some reason Silver Sparkplug's Minicon port is really loose and he won't remain attached to any TF, but I found that he's pretty useful for activating several live Powerlinx in succession, on different TFs if need be.

KB was having a buy one get one 1/2 off sale, so I grabbed four more Terrorcons, bringing my total of various types up to 16. And Alternator Grimlock, GD-05 Gasket, and reissue Blitzwing are on the way from BBTS!

Was at my local Kroger (grocery store) today buying lettuce and on my way out passed the toy aisle. What did I see but Energon Terrorcons at $4.50, marked almost $3 off!! So, I have another Divebomb and Insecticon to add to the horde (I think that's 18 Terrorcons now). Ya never know where deals will turn up!

Got my BBTS order with Alternator Grimlock today. Man, he's sweet, but I practically had to disassemble the frikkin' thing to transform it! I'd love to know how these toy designers take a car plus a rubic's cube and come up with a Transformer...

Latest add: Energon Bulkhead. I wanted Quickstrike, but decided to go ahead and get Bulkhead as a) I like the design, and b) seeing as how many of the line-end TFs are really hard to find, I didn't want to miss out on this mold. Bulkhead is pretty cool IMO, nicely detailed and poseable. Oddly, though, he's got no Powerlinx points. Sound FX on his 'accessory pack' are decent too; a machine gun sound as well as two Transforming sounds, like on the cartoon; best way I can think to describe is 'transforming up' and 'transforming down'.

Now, if the UPS guy would only show up with my latest Galaxy Force purchase...

And UPS has come and gone, leaving me with GC-05 Backpack! Great detail for a TF his size, and the little monkey's packing heat too; two big missiles, twin barrelled handgun, gatling cannon on the shoulders, and the force chip reveals another rack of missiles. Limited leg articulation, but a nice little TF.

Found (and snagged) Alpha Quintesson today; also picked up Universe Cheetor. IMO the Universe version is one of the best of Cheetor.

Aaaaanndd.. one more Insecticon, bringing the Terrorcon count to 21. I swear I won't buy any more, until/unless I can get them for less than two bucks. Also got Treadshot (Energon), but only as an addition to the Omnicon ranks, since I'm not planning on getting all the parts for "Superion Maximus".

I just happened to get Treadshot yesterday as well. It makes a bad, goofy limb, but does its job as a weapon hand well enough and is one of the best designed basic figures out there. He and/or his repaint are must-haves for any Energon collection.

I agree, Chosen. The Energon "Aerialbots" are nicely designed figures by themselves, but their gestalt leaves a lot to be desired.
