People also tend to forget that no president is given absolute power. Those screaming "obama will be the end of us" conveniently forget that. It was the same way 8 years ago on the other side. If people really want to effect a change it starts with congress.

In all fairness, President Bush and his administration really DID do a lot to **** up the country. The President's policies (especially a lot of deregulations and tax cuts on the wealthiest citizens) directly led to the economic crash. And then there's the two wars that destroyed a few countries, killed tens of thousands of people, and REALLY hurt America's standing with the rest of the world.Optimus Prime Rib wrote:People also tend to forget that no president is given absolute power. I remember some conservatives making fun of "liberals" for blaming President Bush for Hurricane Katrina. But it's not the hurricane itself that he caught flack for. It's putting one of his friends, somebody with no experience in disaster management in charge of the country's disaster relief organization. Which, again, led to quite a bit of death, destruction, and general misery.
When conservatives say that Obama will be the end of us all and that his polcies are going to wreck the country, I have to wonder if they somehow forgot about the President who ACTUALLY DID THAT.

Oh come on Smooth, Barabara Bush assured us they were better off than they had ever been after Hurricane Katrina.Professor Smooth wrote: I remember some conservatives making fun of "liberals" for blaming President Bush for Hurricane Katrina. "But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Truly, it was a heck of a job, from Brownie. The guy who, in the aftermath of Sandy, actually criticized Obama for (and I'm not making this up) responding too quickly.Yaya wrote:Oh come on Smooth, Barabara Bush assured us they were better off than they had ever been after Hurricane Katrina.Professor Smooth wrote: I remember some conservatives making fun of "liberals" for blaming President Bush for Hurricane Katrina. I wish I could remember where I read this. But somebody pointed out that, if Bush was such a great President, why wasn't he invited to speak at the RNC or support (on film or in person) Romney's campaign?

Because being a door greeter at a Texas hardware store is a full-time job.Professor Smooth wrote:Truly, it was a heck of a job, from Brownie. My brother-in-law likes to let off epithets and follow them up with "I'm not racist, it's just fun to act like it."Shanti418 wrote:It's true. Right now, the common thinking around race and racism in America can be summed up thusly: "Do I think non-white people are biologically inferior to white people? No way! Thus, I can make stereotypes and use racial epithets at liberty, because clearly I'm not racist!" "4 more years of this N*****, hopefully somebody will assassinate him this time"
She was sacked.
Didn't think that there was a problem with what she said - Said she wasn't racist...
Saw her interviewed, the interviewee pointed out that she did tweet "N*****", didn't it follow that a logical expectation would be people who saw her tweet might think she was racist
This *sort of* registered with her, but she still didn't get it.
Mad bitch.
He was raised in a giant house on a lake. He and his wife, my wife's sister, recently lived in their parents' guest house for a year before his parents helped him get a place of their own closer to his work. Most of our conversations are about... well, about him saying how stupid everyone else is. He was pretty broken up about Romney losing.
Yep.

Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.
