I'm planning a trip, and you're all invited.

I will be there. As I am every year. I can be recognised by my burning of a Andy Schmidt effigy.

A shame about Transformation. I don't think my finances would have worked out for me to go, but it would have been nice to see it happen. I guess there just isn't a large enough fandom in this country to sustain two conventions?

All I know is that if I show up to AA (auto assembly) I am going to need to go to AA (alcoholics anonymous) when I get back to the states.

So I'm a little afraid I may not make it this summer due to the possible need for summer classes- switching out of my program for a shot at the one I really wanted kind of messed up my schedule. Still trying and planning for this summer, but concerned at the mo.

If not this summer, I may aim for the following spring or next summer.

Don't forget winter.

That was a great thing about Marvel UK. You could always get their reprinted works from a Collected Comics, which they also called "<insert season> Special." :)

I wonder why they never did an Autumn Special, though.

I was aiming for one of the periods when I wasn't going to be in school, because it's looking like I'm going to be in school for the next three or so years. :o Spring break, summer holidays... I'm definitely going to make the trip, when is a bit suspect. Planning for Auto Assembly was to make it easier to meet peeps.

Still keeping my fingers crossed for this year's Auto Assembly. The toy collection and CD collection is currently going up for sale soon to support the trip... not going to get a whole lot for the CDs, might get a half-decent amount for the toys, I don't know.

They were basically done to coincide with the big school holidays weren't they (ie, when parents would be more likely to splash out some extra cash on something to get their kids to stfu), Easter, a couple over the Summer and Christmas. Nothing going down in the Autumn.

Is this still on? Or was sadie the glue holding this whole thing together?
If it's still on, I'll jet over to Birmingham (and probably bring a friend of mine). I actually thought Birmingham was a small **** city - but it looks pretty cool!

I'll probably make the journey with Sadie if she does go.

What's the dealer room like at this thing? Will there be a fair amount of dealers there?

It's an alley out the back and you've gotta go up to people, give them the nod and the codeword and they'll probably have some weed or blow either in their shoe or the back of their car.

If they say they have to go to the car to get the stuff, do NOT give them the money first.

HAVE FUN.

Assuming they're in the same hall as the last two years it's a pretty decent sized space, about equally split between a stage/seating/guests signing area and a decent selection of stalls.

Dude, if we both go we'll probably be lucky to end up at the same stopover airport. :o

I'm hoping we at least have arrival times close together. I'd rather not try and make my way around London alone. Better to travel with someone else who also doesn't know what they're doing.

That would require coordination however. both in buying the tickets and such, wouldn't it? If we're arriving on the same day and I arrive first, I could hang around the airport till you show or something. Long as it isn't like 6 hours after I arrive or such?

There might be a Dalek there, assuming the offer to possibly meet me at the airport is still good. Too early to say how it'd play out now, but yeah, depending it'd be cool with me

BTW, I responded to your MSN thing twice, I think your MSN has something funkaaay going on with it. Turn offline mode off, you creeper, it might work better.

Yep, all being well I should be able to go down to the airport to meet you, just depends on what time you get in (ie, if it's six in the morning that'll be before even the first train leaves for London from where I am. Too late in the evening and it becomes an overnight job which might be beyond my financies in a week where I need as much cash as I can get for AA).

I've not actually been to Heathrow before, but IIRC there's a tube line straight there so it shouldn't be so hard. He says. If you come into Gatwick I'm screwed though.

@Hound, if you can't coordinate with Sades to arrive together but can get a flight straight to Birmingham International that would be your best bet. No fuss or bother about getting lost by yourself, the plane basically lands at a train station that takes you on a five minute journey to just round the corner from the convention.

If it isn't much more expensive/difficult to work out from here, I might try to go through to Birmingham as well. A long train ride after a 11-ish hour flight might not be the greatest experience ever.

Plus it would save you an extra 35ish on the train fare. Obviously though, which works out best all depends on if you want to be here for just the convention or go round the country a bit as well (though unless you're only interested in London Birmingham is also nicely central for the whole UK, it's easier to get to any other part of the country from there).

It is a big major airport so there should be flights from Canada going there, it just all depends, as you say, on the pricing.

All of the above may have already been said both before in this thread and/or on MSN, apologies for the repetition. My memories like one of those rice draining things these days.
