Mike is better than Shane or Eric Holmes?
Pretty low bar there.
No way is he better than Furman for the ongoing. We're all here because of Furman. One of the points of the ongoing is for kids to read about their favorite toys. He's a guy who can attract kids while providing storytelling complex enough for adults. Make a list of storytelling flaws for the major TF writers. Furman and Costa both have the same amount of strength and weaknesses, except Costa seems to think he's writing Watchmen while Furman accepts that he is writing about giant alien robots who shoot at each other.
I've said it before and I'll shout it! TRANSFORMERS WILL NEVER BE WATCHMEN. IT'S CONTROLLED BY A ******* TOY COMPANY.

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

In fact, it was darker than most of what Marvel puts out.
Transformers can be both nostalgic and mature, so I don't really agree with you that TF has to stay grounded as a toy story. I mean, after twenty five years, wouldn't you prefer to see TF grow with us instead of rehashing again and again? If Nick can give us the Kup spotlight and that Prowl story in AHM Coda, certainly we can get past calling for the return of Furman to the ongoing?
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

I agree that my first choice for ongoing writer right now would be Rocherts.
However, Furman has hit home runs more often than any other TF writer. Granted, he's written longer arcs than any other TF writer excepting Budiansky, but in general, he's got a steady run of quality. I find Infiltration more satisfying than the overall ongoing arc thus far. Despite a greater amount of character interaction in the ongoing, Infiltration's story was tighter and tenser and based around what I found to be a more compelling human-to-robot interaction, namely that only one Autobot gave a damn about the fleshies.

i finally got this a few weeks back.
The art is super - kind of Mignola crossed with Oeming, altho as i think has been said elsewhere i like his original style just as much.
The story though - the whole thing felt like an apology/excuse - trying to explain away the status quo, stupid tactical decisions and of course Prowl's personality change.
I'd much rather have a status quo that made sense, the Prime we are all used to and bastard Rochert's Prowl and then not have to pay for a comic to poorly explain why i don't have all these things.
Triple Bah.

Aren't all the Conehead seekers dead now in IDW-verse?
We've had Ramjet acting as a poor man's starscream leading to his demise.
Didn't Dirge get killed in AHM as some sort of in joke?
And now thrust snuffed off panel.
All in all weak stuff, and poor treatment of three characters who could've been so much more (think Thundercracker in Ongoing #4).

Thrust was my fave conehead so I'm guttered for him!
Ain't it funny how IDW veer between fully fleshing out historic 'd-listers' like the new wreckers to totally shafting some classic characters.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the new guys in wreckers but I do feel a little sad about the treatment of some of the characters who maybe deserved a lil' more love.

We found him! The only person who watched it!Metal Vendetta wrote:"Hi I'm Prowl and I'm all nice now for some reason."
It's like the last season of Heroes.
