I thought it was fun, though in no way groundbreaking. I guessed the ending (the bit with the old footage) but liked that.
Had a few nice surprises, as well as realism in a fantastical situation.
Personally I always think getting a good look at the monster kinda spoils these things - I would have preferred to have been kept wondering.
Was the Cloverfield monster the tallest giant monster? Well, no...

I thoroughly enjoyed it too. Possibly the best giant monster movie I've seen, mainly because it doesn't actually focus any on the giant ( and fairly personality-devoid) creature, but on the humans affected by its rampage.
And damn... Kroll must be gigantic! 0_0 He could perhaps be almost 500 meters tall! And if you count the length of the arms as part of the height, he'd probably be more like 900..!
