The head of the Machination won't be Scorponok.

It will be ............Soundwave!
That was my initial thought when reading Escalation, but the silhouette doesn't quite seem to fit the profile.

Haaanyway. We know SW is cropping up in, I think, issue 4... so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

But how lame would it be to actually be Scorponok after leaving us hanging for so long?

Certainly, Scorponok makes the most sense, and follows along with TF comic lore.

But then again, when was Sunstreaker ever a Headmaster, right?
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Yeah, this is my problem over it. Sunstreaker as a Headmaster... despite heavily signposting it, they drew out the big reveal far too long... but they basically admitted it at the end of Escalation with the army of bodies.

Skywatch's acquisition of Ravage, Laserbeak, Shockwave and the Dinobots. Heavily signposted, so they just showed it and didn't bother beating about the bush.

Yet, at the same time, the heavily-signposted-as-Scorponok identity of the head of the Machination has been shrouded in mystery and only shot from behind. Why? Why, when less obvious mysteries have been admitted to the reader ahead of time, has such an obvious one been kept hidden?

Only sensible answer is that it's not Scorponok... or that it's an elaborate double bluff.

latest comment on Simon's blog about it seems to imply it is Scorponok saying it must be the 'most guessed revelation of all time'.

hardly suprising given how flagged it was by the UM spotlight and a couple of other issues, so why leave it this long - the scene with Cowboy Bloke in Escalation would have been the perfect time for the reveal - now its just going to feel superfluous.
