If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Then again, I said it was Tuesday earlier, and when it was Tuesday, I was convinced it was Wednesday.
I blame Windows Task Manager. It summates CPU Time for multi-processors so that you think the server's been up for a month when you distinctly remember rebooting it on the friday.

For the record, I hate Thursdays until seven o'clock.
Sades... who came up with the original celebratory idea?

Yay for Friday!
Storm has passed, and no one has died as far as I know. Though my brother's house has no windows anymore
so I'm a bit concerned about how he's doing.

What's up with you UK'ers? I saw on the news today that you people (mostly businessmen) went outside, even though it was a ******* storm there. One of the dudes couldn't even move forward. He just stood there, leaning like he was Michael Jackson.
Still, not as stupid as the swede who died in his small boat.
But come on people. Storm outside? Stay the [composite word including 'f*ck'] inside.
Can't believe I'm still here.

Last night I lit a cigarette on the roof of a 5 storey building in the midst of rather nippy winds and lots of rainy slushy dollops. Go me.
I also ate an orange for the first time in oh a year or so. It was nice.

There were winds?
I may have been drinking last night, but it didn't seem that bad in north London.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Judging by the closed roads, almost every tree in South Yorkshire and North-east Derbyshire fell down yesterday!
Low quality trees around here, obviously. Good day for tree surgens though

Crazy winter in this northern hemisphere of ours. Seattle has been hit by a massive windstorm once already this year.

It's cold here, although not icy anymore.
In the course of my life, I've known two Sunday School teachers as friends. Both female.
One is a nymphomaniac, the other just likes to be tied down and called names.
In other news, I have more school reading than I can currently comprehend, and if I had to give you ONE piece of advice, it's DON'T look for the Northwest Passage with John Franklin in the 19th Century. Bad times.

For about a week now, no matter what I do or hear, I can't get Muse's "Starlight" out of my head.

I have the same problem with the Chip n' Dale's Rescue Rangers theme song.
Sometimes
Some crimes
Go slipping through the cracks
But these two
Gumshoes
Are picking up the slack
There's no case too big, no case too small
When you need help, just call
Ch-ch-ch-Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers!
Ch-ch-ch-Chip and Dale's! When there's danger
You know they never fail they'll take the clues and find the whens, the whys and whos!
I have a very sad life.

Aargh! Thanks for that!
For the first time this year, I had to scrape ice off my car this morning.
No more parking in the fridge for me.

We have finally winter!
(though I already started to look forward to spring...)
I can wear my woollen hat and gloves, and get freezing feet. Yay.
We might even get snow today *crosses fingers*

We also got snow
And a lot of car accidents.
Why can't people understand that ice is slippery?
Can't believe I'm still here.

woollen socks would have been smarter than thin stockings today but I wanted to wear my pretty ballet shoes instead of sensible boots.
update: still no snow!
Where has it gone to?

Well the situation here at work has moved on a bit - manager called me in for HR meeting where I got told off for not filling in reports and stuff, fair criticism I thought. Then manager started asking all these leading questions about commitments and whether I was happy at AvantGo, eventually I twigged that he thought I was secretly working for someone else, or was some kind of corporate spy. Turns out he found an old contract on my desk 6-8 months ago (for work that I never did and was never paid for) and had assumed that since then I've been on someone else's payroll.
So I just got off the phone to HR, filing harrassment claims against him for taking my personal papers and keeping them so that he can try to fire me at his lesiure - constructive dismissal, effectively. Because if he really thought I was on someone else's payroll then surely he should have mentioned something to someone sooner, or just asked me about it. And if he didn't then why bother to bring it up in front of HR in the first place? Anyway, the whole thing is a bit rich considering he's an MD of two other companies, one of which is a direct competitor.
Will keep y'all posted.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Padme: We used to come here for school retreat. We would swim to that island every day. I love the water. We used to lie out on the sand and let the sun dry us and try to guess the names of the birds singing.
Anakin: I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth.

You sure do, my friend, you sure do. But perhaps one day you'll come to your senses and realize that Duck Tales and Talespin were both vastly superior shows and had better theme songs. But until then, si, es muy triste.

DuckTales was better, but TaleSpin was kind of lame. Darkwing Duck ruled the Disney Afternoon.

Darkwing Duck???? Pshaw. That and Goof Troop was the Disney Afternoon jumping the shark. At one point, it was Gummi Bears, Rescue Rangers, Duck Tales, Talespin. THAT, my friend, is perfection.
To put in Transformers terms, Talespin was like Head/Targetmasters (a little whack, but still pretty cool and fit well), but Darkwing Duck and Goof Troop were like Pretenders and ActionMasters (like, now you're just making up stuff because you know we'll buy it).
