im not putting blind faith into anything. She and I both have some serious issues we have to work out if we are to ever have a chance. Like I said. as of right now we arent considering ourselves "married' but more "dating"

Maybe putting the romance back in the relationship will help us.

Or maybe it will just get me a hummer or two.

It should definitely help smooth things over in your relationship, but you're right, that's not really what you need. It's like a house: you gotta have a good foundation if you want it to last. You need to work on the structural problems of your relationship if it's going to work out long term. But a dating situation is definitely a good place to start a discussion about that.
