Eline: Somwhere in your town there is a "gate" (check your map).
Go there and talk to the guards - they will let you leave town (or open the gates so that someone else can visist you).
And yeah, both'll have to be online

I bought the game (Animal Crossing) two days ago. Haven't really had time to play it, but I participated in a "bug-off" contest yesterday.
But then the mayor dissappeared! So I don't know if I won or not.

I did the bug-off too!

Almost won, but then Bill caught a 98 mm monarch butterfly while I had a 97 mm one

Maybe the mayor disappeared because the time had run out? I think the contest lasted until 18:00.

I started my game at 17:55, just so I could meet the mayor at 18:00... but a mole was angry at me, and started yelling at me, so I missed the mayor

He shows up when YOU DONT SAVE. Always press start and save before turning off the game, because he gets worse each time.

Yeah... I started the game, and played a few seconds then I thought "Nah, I must eat! I can't play games all day" and turned it off.

I won the Bug-off! And the mayor mailed me my trophy!

I also mailed Freckles a present - and she (he?) was so happy that she sent me a present! We now have matching t-shirts

YOU WON THE BUGG OFF?!?! I spent all day there and lost by 1 mm.

It was the last of the trophies I needed too. Now I must wait till next year. Grr.

Well, first of all you'll have to trade "Friend codes" with somebody.
I believe you can get your friend code at the city gates. Talk to the guard to the right

Then you have to be online at the same time as the person that is coming to visit you.
Tell the guard that you have a visitor coming, and he'll open the gates!

I'm sure someone else can explain it a little bit better - I can't get my DS online so I haven't been able to try it out yet

Yes. Basically.

They have to open their gate for you (or you open your gate for them)

Then you talk with the guard and say something like "I'm gonna have a visitor!" or "I'm gonna go visit someone".

Ack, got hold up in the IKEA labyrinth yesterday, then we had to assemble all the stuff. And this evening exchange one of the cupboards for the one we should have bought: they all look alike in their boxes. And assemble the rest of the things...

I really can't promise anything for this week, because I need to spend time with my boyfriend before he disappears for a few weeks (business trip to Madrid). And he might take the DS with him (it's his, so I can't really complain about that)...

But I'll do my best, and announce here when I'll be online!

But he likes Animal Crossing too, so I don't worry too much.
