I actually had mixed feelings. Didn't mind seeing 'em get beat in the end. Not a bad team tho.
Enjoyed their win over the USA a few cups ago mind.

Is he okay? He's not able to play any more games, right?

the Guardian unlimited text commentary of Oz vs Nippon is fairly hilarious:
http://football.guardian.co.uk/worldcup ... 02,00.html
also, liked this:
USA! USA! USA!
As we await this afternoon's Group E opener between the Czech Republic and God Bless America, let's put our snooty European prejudices to one side and admit that the Americans have done tremendously well to reach their current world ranking - fifth. After all, soccer is by no means the most popular sport stateside: it trails miles behind gridiron, baseball, shooting sprees, insider trading, surfing for bongo, gorging on cheeseburger-flavoured gherkin ice-creams with 12 gallons of Pepsi and making 58,768 versions of the same action movie. So yes, Bruce Arena's boys really have succeeded against all the odds, much like Hulk Hogan, Rocky, The Karate Kid, Michael Knight, Colt Sivers, Nomi Malone, Dolores Van Cartier, The Littlest Hobo, [STOP! - Fiver Ed.]
Like, Arena himself is an impressive guy, dude. Not only did he oversee God Bless America's best-ever qualifying campaign (they topped a group featuring popular beaches Panama and Guatemala), but after seven years in charge he has mastered international footballspeak. "We have a mountain to climb," he droned in the run-up to today's clash with the Czechs, proving he no longer had any need for the football glossary American soccer fans should be obliged to learn by heart before conversing about the game.
What's more, Arena reckons he knows how to handle 6ft 8ins Czech striker Jan Koller - stick 6ft 4ins defender Oguchi Onyewu on him. "Gooch" is reported to be a top talent despite being linked with Middlesbrough and claims he's looking forward to attempting to prevent Koller from adding to his 42 goals in 68 matches. "I like playing against big guys," boomed Gooch. "They don't complain as much when they encounter a big defender." And if Gooch is as good as Gareth Southgate seems to think, then Koller may not in fact score. So instead the first goal will come from a Pavel Nedved free-kick, after Gooch, who collected three red cards in Belgium this season, chops down his opponent with the sort of clumsy brutality that some people associate more closely with the US army.

Leonardo IS ****** Conner McCloud of the Clan McCloud...
Nailed on.
Look at him.
Listen to the way he speaks in a charmingly understandable broken English.
Listen to his flippin voice...
Recognise that he looks arguably younger then when he played for Braxil in flippin 94...
It is him.

Did anyone see the post game celebrations from Australia, there they are dancing in a big circle in their dressing room and as the camera pans around who do we see dancing and singing with them...John Travolta, how, why, what? He's American isn't he, did he get lost and just assumed that because they spole English they were American?

It's a given we weren't going to get out of the first round. But we didn't have to go and embaress ourselves.
As long as it's not Brazil, I'm happy.

To hell with that. We are a good team. Something has to give somewhere. Hopefully we take out Italy and Ghana and redeem ourselves. And please stop knocking us. The U.S.A. is making great strides in becoming a respected footy contender. We just tend to like things more as a society that WE created. Basketball, Football (our version), Baseball. Hockey is the 4th most popular simply because we didnt create it lol.

created?
or took other sports and changed the rules slightly?
i was hoping the USA! USA! USA! would put in a better show but they were, in fairness, beaten by a much better team. USA! USA! USA! worked hard but showed bugger all cerativity, almost every ball in was way too deep.
still i agree they are efinitely a better side then they used to be.

They had one guy that looked pretty good, Eddie Lewis. What I found strange was that he seemed to be left footed but was causing trouble playing on the right.
Think he would have been better crossing from the left instead of cutting and and shooting.
KK was gash for number 3, went down well early. Could have stood up and saved it.
As a Spurs fan, I know that Casey is bollocks at one on ones.

I'm not saying we suck, I'm just saying we got a bad draw and have to play some tough teams.
I'm sure that Trinidad match had all you Brits biting your fingelnails, eh? lol

We changed in spirit when Rooney came on, who was unfit in 10mins, and our width was greatly improved Lennon who was ******* well good.
Guess we cant play like that against better teams but I hope we use it against sweeden.

Biting my fingernails?
Biting my fingernails?
Try ******* well sobbing on my knees in abject despair, unable to ******* well watch.
I haven't been that traumatised by a match since Saints vs. Norwich a year ago - a match where both teams, fighting relegation and with a handful of matches left, conveniently forgot to bring a defence...
Grrr. Argh.
