When I look for news bits for our site, I check Newsarama, ComicsContinuum, IGN Comics and Comic Book Resources and hit uncannyxmen.net forums to see if they found anything else interesting.
I check reviews at Newsarama and sometimes at IGN. www.x-axis.com is good for X-Men related stuff, too. I used to read discussions about comics in various places too, but recently I generally got annoyed with people at the Internet and don't really do that anymore. I have much less reasons to go and my eyes don't hurt that much.
Fansites? TFArchive, TransFans and sometimes uncannyxmen.net.

Legit concern.
The premise of the story changed pretty heftily at the end of season 7... that itself is easy to get, though, but there's lots of direct references to events that occured over the last year or so.
It was a vey different landscape by the end of season seven to how it was at the end of season 2.
Major comic plot points involve... uhm... well I can't really tell you what they are without spoilering it for you. Erk.

Cool cover for Secret Invasion #2.
SI is the only thing I'm pumped about right now. I only ran with the X Books as long as Messiah Complex carried me, Spidey and I are still on the outs, I'm all Hulked out, and we're still months away from Final Crisis on the last Y:TL TPB.

New New "Excalibur" finally revealed.
I liked Cornell's Wisdom and I'm hoping this one will be even better.

I dont get comics myself, but every now and then Crafty buys me a TPB. So t'other day I recieved Wanted and The Boys, and I found them to be fooking clarse.
Now found out they've already finished shooting Wanted, which looks a bit **** and that they've just (today I think) announced the rights to The Boys have been sold to Columbia.
I seriously doubt they'll translate that faithfully to the big screen.

It's not a relationship, though. It's likely only because she was gagging for something.
Besides which, I groaned in despair when I first saw it. But I thought the way it got completely played for laughs with everyone bumbling in like a bawdy French farce saved it superbly.
She wanted a lay... she had somebody who was in love with her... she thought she could get away with it. It's not like it's unprecedented. It was that or Xander.

i thought it was aces - as was the end.
My initial reaction and rethink were the same as yours were i feel, ay Brendan, mate? Yes?
X-men felt a bit like it was going over old ground, although i was pleased to see grief does not seem to be sending a certain character mental this time.
X-Force is a bit meh. Its also that intersting kind of art that is in some ways very impressive but in others pretty much totally devoid of character or emotion. X-23 and Logan's differing approaches seem very contrived.
Cable was very meh. Could have been 2 pages long for all that happened and the ending has been spoilerised to buggery for months.
Penance ending was quality - although i would like to know what the heckfire is happening with the main book.
That free Skrull thing was quite good.

Brendan Schmendan,
Buffy did get better, but I have a rant...
I could buy Willow's interest in women/men as part of her general character--tied to changeable things like magic, and an identity that was changing increasingly as she got into college.
But Buffy has always had the same essential core to her character. From the beginning she was someone who had to accept her own responsibility. And her sexuality reflected that. Always these brooding guys she fought battles with. Okay, so she fought with the girl, but man... I just don't buy it. Buffy comes off as so completely totally narrow in her sexual desire. It fits her character.

Just finished reading The Mighty Avengers and Avengers Initiative.
For the first time, I'm actually interested in the stories. Was about the drop the titles. Then suddenly, the stories have picked up.
Love the way the pages that feature Doom, Iron Man, and the Sentry in the past are printed in the pixelated style of comics of old, and how the artwork is purposefully rendered to reflect the style of the 80's. Bendis even throws in some of those old dialogue boxes and uses the term "True Believers! in one of them.
Found that to be very clever. Loved it. Also loved the surprising six consecutive splash pages of the Avengers fighting Doombots without any dialogue whatsover. That was different and unexpected.
Have to hand it to Bendis for trying these things. Sometimes they really have impact, other times not (like with those ridiculous thought bubbles which would be great if they weren't used every freakin panel).
What I love about the Avengers Initiative title is that characters are actually getting maimed or killed. Much more serious tone to it overall. Love the concept of the Tactigon and Gauntlet also.
Reading the Warbound stuff too, wishing I didn't. Looks like any real effort to make the Warbound titles worth reading just flew out the window.
Hulk #2 was alright, Incredible Hercules really going nowhere. Don't understand the praise for that title, really.
Off to read Thunderbolts, Annihilation:Conquest, and Nova.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Soooo...Secret Invasion #1. What did you guys think?
I thought it was a good beginning. There wasn't much that the Internet hasn't already called, and the big surprise of what was in the Skrull ship was given away by solicit covers. But I'm looking forward to the rest of it and the implications therein.
Seeing Spider Man on the New Avengers all wearing his mask 24/7 with the secret identity all of a sudden (He's barely been drawn, let alone spoken in the post OMD issues) and having no one say anything irks me. I can't wait to see them try and explain that one in the pages of ASM.

The lash ish of MA was just unbearable. I've only got on the book since my wallet's gotten some space from dropping ASM and since Bagley joined up, but the thought balloons have already started to grate on me. Especially Doom.sprunkner wrote: And Bendis is steadily reliable for good stories, despite his recent overuse of thought balloons in MA.
The coloring on Yu's pencils is more similar to Birthright than to New Avengers, and it cleans up his art nicely, as many people have pointed out, so if you usually don't like Yu, you may here.

Last Couple of weeks:
Quite enjoyed the last ish of MA to be honest - nice to see the Sentry being deployed properly for once.
The Spider-woman stuff was a bit odd though - if that was a double bluff it was a pretty ham fisted one.
Buffy this week was great agian i thought - especially that Xander/Drac stuff.
Angel - bit formulaic - nice to have a break from the regular artist though - i really struggle with his stuff.
Young X-Men was terrible, bland plotting, bland art, no real sense to it (i only really caught the end of New X-Men but its painfully apparent that a lot of the central chemestry has been lost - partly due to the characters that had that chemestry being removed from the playing field). Tattoo seems like a dick as well.
Think i will be dropping Ultimate FF, it pretty much feels like Heroes Reborn now, will see who the new Team on U X-Men is before probably dropping that as well.
Think i'll be dropping Loeb Hulk and Hercules as well. Not minding the Warbound stuff though, altho unsure as to where else there really is to go with these guys.
**SPOILERS**
Finally - thouht Secret Invasion was great - i have reread it about 5 times - characters like Jarvis and Dugan are great choices for infiltration - though Agent Brand was dead tho? Definite sense of threat to the whole thing - only thing i am less keen on is yet another lengthy slog of interwoven books coming out all over the place and schedule slips like we had with WWH.
