Yeah, but tight continuity between Ultimate titles exists only in thoery. Bendis and Kirkman both seem to give different reasons for Kitty to leave the X-Men and those are titles that actually are on time and their arcs don't take two years to release. It's kind of my task for a certain project to put Ultimate Universe continuity in order, and it's pain.Professor Smooth wrote:It's shown being torn off. That'd be interesting to read, esp considering a couple of the writers and I think even Joey Q have said in the past that they aren't hugely fussed on keeping continuity between titles in step in the Ultimate U. Doesn't Ultimate Marvel Team-Up cause all sorts of problems on it's own?Ozz wrote:Yeah, but tight continuity between Ultimate titles exists only in thoery. It certainly would look better if I put seperate issues into it instead of whole arcs, but the point was to prepare just a table of reference for something like writing the characters' biographies. If someone decides to run it as a feature somewhere, it will obviously need a major overhaul.
I had more problems with the delays of Ultimates, inconsistencies between Spider-Man and X-Men ever since Kitty started to appear in both and Mark Millar vs. rest of the world when it comes to when the Fantastic Four received their powers.

No, if you ignore some of it. Like Fury being white. That Fantastic Four issue is obviously not supposed to be taken serious too. The Iron Man story in #4-5 contradict later Card's mini-series, but I think someone at Marvel said that it was just a cover story released by Tony's company. Rest doesn't seem to cause many problems.KingMob wrote:Doesn't Ultimate Marvel Team-Up cause all sorts of problems on it's own?

Found this article on Newsarama, if you want to read a little more about the current Knights of the Old Republic title by John Jackson Miller.Best First wrote:is it in any way tied to the old x-box game?
i've lost a lot of love for SW to be honest, but that game is brilliant.

Apparently, it does relate is some ways to the games.

Speaking of the Star Wars articles at Newsarama...

Has anyone read Purge or Dark Times? Dark Times sounds pretty cool, and Vader's first forays post Ep. III is a great premise as well.
On another note, this week's Shulkie and Captain America kicked ass. They feature copious amounts of talking s*** to/about Tony Stark.

Reading Dark Times. Best artwork on a Star Wars project ever. Story is also very good. I recommend it for the art alone. It's like your actually watching the movie, it's that good.Shanti418 wrote:Speaking of the Star Wars articles at Newsarama...

so New Warriors vol. 4 is out? I'm a big fan of Justice and Firestar from back in the Avengers days... also LOVED vol. 3 and the reality show. One of the funniest comics you'll ever read. Is it worth three (or four or whatever the going rate is these days) bucks? And wtf? Night Thrasher can't come back.

It's almost sure that it's someone else in Night Thrasher's suit. Justice won't be in it, I wouldn't count on Firestar either.
The issue was quite average. To be honest, I will bother with next one only because I'm curious who are all those "old characters in new identites" who compose new New Warriors. So far two of them were revealed (one was known from the interviews and the other was quite a surprise for me).
And I couldn't make myself to finish vol. 3. It wasn't my New Warriors anymore.

I had a GREAT week for comics. Friendly Neighborhood Spider Man, World War Hulk, Nova, and New Avengers all rocked my socks off.
What does everyone think of the development at the end of NA? SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
So Elektra was a Skrull, and then the last panel of the book implies that Jessica and Luke's baby is a Skrull, and then Bendis gets on all the comic boards yesterday giving out interviews, and he's basically like, "We've had the Skrulls in the background since NA #1, everything since then works THROUGH the Skrull storyline, so things like CW weren't caused by hidden Skrulls, but were perhaps encouraged or goaded along. The Skrulls' religion (Apparently Richard Dawkins is not a Skrull) tells them that Earth is their promised land, their home, and now with the destruction of their homeworld in Annihilation, they're looking to move. Trust no one, who knows who's a Skrull, and all that BS. People will quickly look at Tony as being Skrully. Mighty and New Avengers will switch sides. AND Bendis hints that a member of the Illuminati, post Illuminati #1, is a Skrull. Which I find to be quite crazy, considering that story is seriously old, and the ones that would be most likely to be Skrulls (Reed & Tony) went through that whole Hereos Reborn crap in the late 90s, which would cause making them Skrulls to be a serious continuity headache.
But something SERIOUSLY is going on with Iron Man. Consider what IGN said about it: "We're honestly not sure what is going on here given what has happened in Mighty Avengers thus far. First Iron Man transforms into some sort of female Ultron, and now this? A solicitation cover for issue #4 shows Ares fighting an army of Iron Men, and we've also seen a '60s era Iron Man arriving, proclaiming Tony Stark's death - which makes us wonder who is serving as Venom's trophy (in a released image of Venom looking symbiotes standing over a defeated Mighty Avengers crew)
So basically, there's a crapload of spoilers. I'm not sure what's going on, but I THINK I'm excited about it. After CW, I'm like, "Fool me into buying into a crappy "event" once, shame on you, but fool me twice...." Nonetheless, still waaay more interesting than all this Initiative crap.

I pretty much stopped reading comics during the first Civil War delay and then found no reason to start again after the series had ended, but this sounds interesting. Bendis and Quesada can cram it with walnuts if they expect anybody to believe that this was done as anything other than "Oh ****, oh ****, oh ****, we need to fix a WHOLE bunch of stuff!"
I have been following the goings-on in comics on Newsarama and CBR and it seems that, since Civil War ended, most of the writers have been treading water with all the new status quos. Amazing Spider-Man, for example, has apparently only shipped 3 times in the last 9 months.
The interesting thing is that, over the past couple of years, so many people have been acting so out of character that really everyone is a suspect. Anyone who has died or come back is also a suspect and that includes damn near everyone in the MU.
And just to bring up something that I haven't seen touched on yet, does anyone think that that Bendis is going to claim that the reason that thought bubbles have been phased out over the past few years is because a lot of characters would not be thinking anything other than "Oh man, my Skrull buddies are gonna totally **** you all?"

Plausible... though I've always felt thought bubbles are just lazy and sloppy writing. Astonishing X-Men manages just fine without them. As did Watchmen.Professor Smooth wrote:And just to bring up something that I haven't seen touched on yet, does anyone think that that Bendis is going to claim that the reason that thought bubbles have been phased out over the past few years is because a lot of characters would not be thinking anything other than "Oh man, my Skrull buddies are gonna totally **** you all?"
Spoilery reaction:
If Jess and Luke's kid is a Skrull, surely that means one of them is a Skrull? That sucks. Would be a shame to do away one of my favouritest Marvel story arcs of recent memory
Grrr. Argh.

In response to the spoiler from Brend. That's not necessarily true. It could have just been switched.

I actually think that baby might not be a Skrull, but form a completely different subplot.

Re: ASM shipping - I read ASM every month, and I think it was more like perhaps it's missed 3 months out of the last 9, but most of those delays were caused by the Civil War backlogging. I'm not too sure about this ASM 3x a month, but I'm willing to give it a try with PAD and RAS leaving FNSM and SSM anyway.
Because like Sprunk said, FNSM kicked ass, and SSM is pretty good too.
Although a upcoming solit for New Avengers says LUKE CAGE VS JESSICA JONES, I think this is a case of mistaken identity, and the baby is by itself. I think that Marvel will get way more mileage, especially at this early point, of making everyone THINK everyone is a Skrull, as opposed to everyone just being Skrulls.
A STICKY? For my topic? You shouldn't have! I just want to thank the Academy, and God, praise be to God, without his love and graces I would have never got to where I am today. You like me, you really, really like me!
And by God, I mean the mod who stickied the topic.
