I like comics, How 'bout you?

Seriously, though - I'm crap at organising things. I lose stuff. I lose stuff all the time. I never get bags unless they're with the comics, and I don't fork out for boards. Having four issues of a mini-series in four seperate bags (if bagged at all) just means I've got four things to lose. And that if I ever find them, they'll be creased to hell...

Sticking all four of them in one bag means I've only got one thing to lose, and the mass of paper means that it'll stay rigid and won't be battered to [composite word including 'f*ck'] when I finally remember which box it's in.

It's not the result of some insane genius or masterplan... it's down to laziness and my "oh sod it, just bung 'em all in together" mentality...

FLARK yes! :D You see Hulk smash and slash and get royally f**ked up in combat, because he's weaker than ussual.

It's got pretty darn good continuity to old Hulk-stories and old parts of the MTU overall, and it shows a take on the jade giant that is not just logical, but also a little bit new even. :)

You even begin to wonder... is the Hulk the monster that destroys, or is it Banners fear that has stopped Hulk from being happy, from being a hero in his own way?

Yeah, Planet Hulk is a good read.

Hulk's on another planet, Banner free for reasons I don't know, and he got dropped down in the middle of one of those "one race enslaving the other for s***s and giggles" type things, and he's basically been busting up the status quo for the oppressed, although where things are going to go now are a bit more iffy.

But there's definitely a fair share of decompression here. Given the fact that it's already halfway over its 14 part arc, I'd say just wait for the trade, which will certainly come before World War Hulk.

I might. Since it appears to be in the same vein as Cap Am right now. (tie in?)

Any good? (Quality needs to be very close to Cap for me to bother with the Union lad.)

Also: In sweden we have just gotten to Astonishing X-men #11-12, and Spider-Man: the Other. It would appear as if HoM takes place inbetween issue #11 and 12 of Astonishing, yes? Fair play to start reading HoM for me then?

I've also read just up to the reveal to the public of the New Avengers, so it does appear as if it's most deff HoM-time! ^^

Surely... HoM is atleast half-decent reading? It does appear to be required reading for a nut like me.

YES! They're Snakes on a Plane!

Also, be sure to read Mark Millars Ultimate Fantastic Four, issues #21 and onwards, as MZ is a direct tie-in to it! ^^ The story is also intertwined more from the end of MZ into UFF.

So... get it all, damn you! :p

Anyway, this weekend got (amongst others) the latest issues of:

Y The Last Man
Amazing Spidey
FF
Ultimates
Ultimate Spidey

Spoilerzzzzzz

ok, first Civil War stuff - loved the handling of Spidey's change of heart, even if it was pedictable. I'm kind of hoping he has rigged control of the new suit and then will turn up and kick IM's ass in the old one - bearing in mind spidet is probably fast enough and strong enough to pull IM's head off. IMO anyway. Not that i am biased or anything.

FFwise - again enjoyable, but didn't seem to fit in (event wise, theme wise it was fine) with CW 4, Sue's departure being very different. Also the same scenes in both FF and ASM is a bit cheap for my money.

Ultimates was, essentially, war porn. Nice. Not sure about Cap killing though. Love ultimate Hulk.

Ultimate Spidey - felt a bit let down that it felt like adouble issue for 100 but was in fact just an (admittedly cool) sketch book. Other than that i am intrigued as to where this is going buy equally hope all this clone stuf is wrapped up fairly cleanly.

YTLM - oooh!

:o

Things I bought this weekend:

- Preacher, TPB 1
- Y the Last Man, TPB 3
- Alias, TPB 1
- Nextwave, TPB 1

All teh awesome. Yes, I am behind on many thingz.

Enjoyed Preacher - Cassidy is awesome.

Nextwave is a great big joygasm.

Alias is so good I have just ordered the remainder of the TPB run from Amazon.

YTLM continues to be groovy. I am restricting myself to a TPB a month on it, else I will go kerazy and just buy the entire run. Love the fact that there is so much more of it for me to read.

I am contemplating branching out into more Ultimateness. Should I start with Spidey or FF?
Grrr. Argh.

I'd vote Spidey - although there is a lot more of it.

FF is a bit up and down, but mainly up, but not as up as Spidey.

Its very Bendis though so depends on how you rate him (i think he's bald and groovy).

All yoru above choices are ace by the way.

Yeah, don't say ANYYYTHING about YTLM unless you give me a hell of a lot of spoliler space. I'm on the TPBs, although I'm all caught up.

PP: Marvel Zombies was cool, mos def. A bit light on story (Zombies don't have real deep character motivations), but it's got great art and Kirkman writing, which is enough for me.

Speaking of Zombies and Kirkman....picked up Walking Dead TPB #5

&*%$#@. That's some crazy stuff.

World War Hulk : Not much is known about it, except that it's the return of Hulk, it's next summer's big Marvel event (although nowhere near the size of CW,HoM, or Dissassembled), and Park/JRJR.

CW ASM: Dude, Spidey could kick the crap out of Iron Man, even pre Other. Problem is, MJ and Aunt May are basically screwed, and according to the cover of CW #5, so's Spidey. Although it looks like perhaps Frank Castle will have his back?

Ditto BF's feelings about USM/UFF

Cheers, Shanti. :)

Is the Zombies stuff available as a TPB, or is it quite recent so that I'd have to try and get ahold of the individual comics?

It's quite recent in that the only available collection is the pricey hardcover. You'll probably have to wait a few months for a TPB, if you so chose.

I believe the Marvel Zombies HC is already on a reprint, with this unbelivably sweet cover. Though this runs a close second for my fave Spidey Zombie cover. (Boo on the Torment one)

hmm, Spidey does look a bit poo stained there doesn' he?

i found it interesting that i looked at that cover and i think Bullseye is far scarier than Venom or GG.

Sadly my remote control suit theory looks a bit not at all. Damnit, i wanted to see Peter out smart Stark. out smart Stark. out smart Stark.

I would love it if that was Castle - New Non Eddie Brock Venom strikes me as ripe for death.

Also, current art on ASM - ace.

I hate the art on ASM right now. Garney and Deodato seem sloppy and rushed and have never measured up to JRJR's standard. Garney always draws MJ in out-of-fashion clothes, too. Arg to anyone who likes the art in ASM!

Stories are still good, though, now that "The Other" is over and we're into "Unmasked."

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is my favorite Spidey right now.

I definitely think between ASM, SSM, FNSM, and even USM, it's got to be some sort of golden period for Spidey books.

FNSM was good, but I can't wait to see what Chameleon is going to do to May in SSM, not to mention Liz selling out Pete to Molten Man.

I just hope it doesn't get TOO crazy. I stopped reading Spider Man back in the mid 90s, when he was getting fake parents and clones and having rough fights with MJ. I was tired of them dragging him through the mud.

The whole reason I got back into ASM was reading JMS, and how he breathed new life into May and the Pete/MJ relationship, plus he gave him a cool normal school teacher gig.

Now they've already set to work breaking it apart. On the other hand, I couldn't exactly see the Parkers living in Stark Tower indefinitely. He'll be back to having a secret identity by hook or by crook in a couple years, and I swear, if Joe breaks up Peter and MJ in a stupid, idiotic fashion, I'll have his head.

If comics were as cliche-ridden as they were in the 90s, I'd say MJ is due for a convenient decapitation any minute now, but I can't see that happening.

Personally, (speaking from an entirely selfish POV) I'd like to see Petey have kids, esp. with the world watching. They could mock the whole Tom and Katie thing by having Petey and MJ on Vogue.

Psssh, they're already overly concerned with Pete aging. The problem isn't Peter's age, it's the lack of supporting human cast that he used to have.

I'm just waiting for the day when they bring back baby May from wherever they took her off to.
