Just read The Seige: The Cabal. Sweeeeet. I said it before, I'll say it again. Osborne was finished the minute he brought Doom into the fold.
In the end, there is Doom. Only Doom.

Read the Sinestro Corp War trades. Not sure what the big deal is. It was okay, but I find Marvels events much more to my taste. I mean, it's nice to see Green Lantern, Batman, and Superman for nostalgia reasons, but I just didn't get into the story much. Maybe it's because I didn't know any of the characters except for the major players.
Speaking of Marvel, enjoying the Seige so far. Loved what happened to Ares. Didn't see that coming, but so very glad it did, so I give points to Bendis for that.
Not sure what the hell he's doing with the Sentry, but it looks like the Seige is going to be more about stopping him than it is Osborn. "I am Galactus, Ravager of Worlds". What the hell? Sentry takes out the Molecule Man, then calls himself Galactus? Guess we'll see what's up.
Prediction: Doom will save the day. Why? Because he is Doom.
Captain America returns...in the most anticlimatic of fashions, I will say.
Thunderbolts has lost it's charm since Diggle moved on and this guy Parker took over. Last issue wasn't too bad though.
Almost caught up on Naruto. On volume 47. Loving this. So much better than the caped superhero stuff. Brother is trying to get me to read manga called Onepiece and another one called 20th Century Boys. Anybody heard of them? Also going to read Pluto, which many say is better than Monster.
Also looking to read Mouse Guard: Winter 1152. Enjoyed the first one.

Just read Fantastic Four. Johnathan Hickman. Best writer at Marvel. Whatever the guy touches is gold. Can't think of a writer I prefer more than him. Maybe Millar. Maybe Diggle.
I see Marvel:Eye of the Camera #6 is finally out. Loved this series. Will probably get the trade.
Though I think Bendis is overrated, I have to give him props for what he's done with Spider-Women. But even more deserving is the artistic team on that book. Damn! Maleev is one of these guys that you can take to your local university art class and tell him to teach the Art of Human Expression, and he'd do it better than the professor.

That's unfortunate. Surely, a simple "sorry, bad choice of words" would have sufficed?Best First wrote:Hmm - i was a big fan of Hickman - but i think he came across as an arrogant clown when he tried to defend his use of the word retard in the letters page of the last issue of FF.

he said it was representative of reality and that it's "the only way he knows how to write"
While i fully agree that kid's and adults using offensive terms is representative of reality Valeria's supposed to be smarter than Reed, not to mention the fact that there is no chastisment for the term that is used.
Whilst these characters are supposed to be flawed they are also suppose to be fundamentally decent...

Representative of reality? Ha. You mean like a guy whose neck stretches and a guy made of rocks?Best First wrote:he said it was representative of reality and that it's "the only way he knows how to write"

Where's the realism in that? It's a ******* comic book. Sounds like he's just trying to defend himself instead of man up about it.
Besides, I read comics to escape reality, not be reminded of it.

Is Pak still doing Hercules? Find it hard to belief he's actually writing something worth reading.
Yeah, Red Hulk's just a cluster-[composite word including 'f*ck'] of a comic. Now there's Red She-Hulk. Just a matter of time before Red Abomination shows up.
Read Spider-Man Secret Wars. Loved it. Funny how the best stuff from the eighties still surpasses most of the stuff today. Even rehashes.

So... Did anybody try to take advantage of the Amazon.com error last night?
I ordered a bunch of Marvel Omnibuses. Ultimates, X-Men, Wolverine, Secret Wars, Secret Wars II, and The Death of Captain America. Total cost $62 + shipping.
So, lemme just say this. Amazon admitted it was a mistake. If they cancel my order, I'm not going to get pissed off and swear revenge on Amazon. Mistakes happen.
But... If they actually honor my order, I will show my appreciation by (doing what I should have been doing all along and) ordering a lot more stuff through them. Seems fair, no?
Well...no. Because Amazon's still losing like $500 on my order. They're also shipping about 15 kilos of stuff to JAPAN for $73
Perhaps I'm showing my true character by not just cancelling my order outright. Hmmm. I learned something about myself today.

To borrow one of my alltime favorite quotes from Gandolf when he described how the dwarves set the Balrog loose on the world: He "dug too deep".

siege #2 got me to start liking ares just before he got taken out. a great book and it has me eagerly anticipating the next issue.
I think Dark Reign lasted too long, and I am so ready for the big crossover after crossover chain to be over. from what i see of the upcoming heroic age i think there is some real greatness on the horizon.

Osborne - having made him as interesting as this, i'd keep him as a threat.
I think Dark Reign has gone on just about long enough to be honest any shorter and it wouldn't have had an impact when it ended.
My only reservation about Seige so far is that it looks like the X-Men play no part - i'd like to think they would be up for this

Both Nova and Guardian's of the Galaxy are worth a look.
Fables is pretty magic.
Oh and once the sadly cancelled S.W.O.R.D gets collected you absolutely need to buy it. Same for Captain Britain and MI-13.
Ultimate Spidey continues to be exactly what it is called.
Dark Avengers and New Avengers both worth a look.
Seige will be worth picking up when collected i think.

Just read The Unwritten Vol.1 by Mike Carey and Peter Gross.
Impressively intelligent writing. It's nice to be able to pick up something like this and get away from the caped superhero genre once in a while. The story about Kipling was beautifully rendered. Nice to see social commentary in comic book form every once in a while.
It was at it's best when Worldmind was alive and well. Sometimes it's hard to ignore what a ripoff this is of the Green Lantern Corp, but ah well.

I feel Nova is losing it's way a bit. The whole Sphinx thing is kind of boring. Hope they move on.Nova... worth a look.

i have only read the first trade so i am somewhat behind.
Enjoyed the Imperial Gaurd series, altho probably more for the art than the story i think.
Nice ending. Harsh!
Seige 3 was good but not quite as good as i was hoping. Bit miffed certain factors have chosen to sit on the sidelines when them showing up would have been fairly awesome.

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.
Yah, the Diggle run. One of the best writers out of Marvel in a long time. He rocked on Thunderbolts and he rocks on Daredevil too.bumblemusprime wrote: Zat the Diggle run? I haven't bought it yet post-Brubaker.

I know BF don't like Hickman, but damn, if that guy isn't the best writer in Marvel today.
Reading his Fantastic Four run, and the first issue of Shield. Awesome stuff. Tis always a nice feeling when you actually get the bang for the buck.
Here a lot of good things bout The Walking Dead. Worth it?
