The only place u can read what a cross section of supporters think are on the forums (like 606 and the united forum), and you will find a huge majority like the current players.
If there was a pop on the most disliked player I expect it would be Rio due to his contract negotiations.
Personnaly, I dont have a problem with Ronaldo, sure he acts like a child some days, but then hes 20, so im not to fussed and hes had hard season what with dad dying and being acused of rape.
Apart from them two I like the rest - But in all honesty I can go round every premm team picking out ppl I dont like, im only human.
As United are going to 'buy' the title back, is it safe to say Chelski bought the title?
Good old United bashing, i guess thats what they are there for

Thats exactly what i'm saying. Rio however is a brilliant player, on his day, but he has been so lazy of late, pay all footballers £100 a week and give them a bonus of £50,000 everytime they win and then see how much more passion the game is played with!

hes been widely cited as back to his best recently tho, his goal line clearence and winner against Liverpool? - cant ask more really.
Rios problem is he lacks concentration, it might not happen for 10 games but usually does at some point.
Personaly id like to see him more forward as hes got good feet and then let new boy Vidic controll the line.

tbh, the game was ***** as far as the neautral went. utter *****. Utd's ploy of punting it onto Hyppia's head was always asking for trouble, they should have maybe tried to play football...
Didn't really take much notice of Smith's injury att he mtime. looking at it now, he's ******. It;s bloody harsh, already people are saying he'll never play again, and that is rough for the guy. I dont really rate him as a player, but he was passionate about the game. Shame for him.

good crowd reaction?
Liverpool suporters should be ashamed of themselves, they goaded smith as he went off and took the piss out of him. - for me that was worse then losing.
Put into perspective there are more Utd - pool games to come every year, but Smith might not play again, and thats horrible.
Plus side, I thought the Pool players and Pool coaching staff should be comeneded, they all tried to help.
Overall, Pool were better in midfield, but then I know our mid is lacking untill we get our two new mids, so Pool deserved the win as they bossed us in midfield and we couldnt penetrate in the first half at all.
2nd half we looked better but were still lacking and never really gave our strikers the chance to do somthing.
thought the match was exciting.

All I ever heard was Alan Smith being applauded off the pitch.
This is a message posted by the Administrator of the official LFC message board.
'Alan Smith has today spoken to liverpoolfc.tv and asked us to pass on a message of thanks to the club doctor, players - in particular Djibril Cisse - and the SUPPORTERS - for the kind gesture of clapping him off the pitch as he was stretchered off.
If you would like to leave a message for him, post it here and a print out of this thread will be passed on to Alan in hospital.'
I guarantee if it was Gerrard being stretchered off at Old Trafford, then he would not have had the same good reaction from the Man U supporters that Smith did from the Liverpool fans.

I understand Smith said thank you.
But even the BBC in the post match Interview asked Gary N what he thought of the pool fans who boooed, it did happened.
Smith was polite.
I didnt think it was a nice thing to do my self - I know a large majority of fans did appluad, but the was quite a few who mocked. and to be honest. I dont care whos playing. Its stupid.

Yes that for me was worse then loosing, and haven spoken to a few pool supporters, all I did speak to were also distressed for Smith. I thought Raffa was class after the game for what he said.
Not taken anything away from Pools win, they outclassed united in the midfield, they were just too strong for giggs and fletch, Sissko I felt had a blinder of a game alongside Gerrard.
Continues to highlight our lack of midfield strength, and smith shows our lack of numbers.
roll on next year.
hope you beat Chelski.

Although it was disgusting behaviour, you must commend the fact liverpool supporters came up with such a good song on the spot,
(to the tune of Hey Baby)
Jo.....................hn arne riise (oo ah)
I wanna kno.........w how you broke smiths leg!
Should work for stock, aitkin and waterman!
Seriously, V. disapointting tho, because perhaps he's not the best player ever, but he is one of the most passionate footballers I've ever seen play. (good news though is that apparently not as bad as first feared, and will just need good recovery time)

Not wanting to sound argumentative, but Impy are you sure that next year will be utd's? Even if they bought 2 new midfielders, I think that it will probably take another season before man utd are firing on all cylinders again, if they ever do. Liverpool had a fluke season last season, new players etc, but it's this season where the quality is starting to come to fruition.Impactor returns 2.0

From past experiences as well, would manchester utd be able to attract the top, top players like they used to? Ronaldinho being a good example. He knew Barcelona were better than Man Utd at the time and had more prospects of futrue success. Robben should be at Man Utd, but chelseas money came along, and whereas in the past Man Utd would have done anything to bring the quality players in it just didn't happen. Say what you want about Robben, but if he was playing for Man utd they would have wrapped up a couple more titles.
In fact the best thing to happen to Man Utd in years is Glazers takeover, with him in charge there is more chance mn utd can go buy big, because I don't think the PLC would have sanctioned the money that fergie needs to spend to get back into pole position. £30 m wasted on Veron, over the odds paid for Rio, reports suggested they could have beaten down the price from leeds but didn't, over the odds on Rooney, which I think may have been good business, but they could have got him for less because there was nowhere else he was gonna move to. He wanted Man U. Plus all the cash wasted on kleberson, bellion, forlan, Djemb-Djemba, the cost and compensation for the new roy keane Liam Miller (now on loan to leeds). Mant utd need to splash big and quick.
The only problem is, if they buy a good spanish player, will he transfer over to the prem well? Luque, and Reyes prove not always a success. Year after year shows that eastern europeans don't really settle in the prem. Italians don't like the pace of the prem (or bolton roughing them up!) The thing is wo could fergie buy to get Man u out of the hole they are currently digging themselves into?

Well besty I nominate, a joint managership of maclaren, o'leary, then gareth southgate could fulfil his dream of playing for utd, take DJemba-djemba back, sign erik Bakke, take baros of our hands, and there you go Man utd rebuilt in under 30 secs.Best First

Fergie needs to make way for someone else IMO.
even if he starst to rebuild effectively he is unliley to be there for more than 2 years which emans any restructuring will be interupted, they should get a new man in to start fixing things their own way.
Maclaren for example...

One of the midfielders I think United are after is Michael Ballack, who will leave Bayern Munich for free this summer. Maybe I don't know that much about international football, but as far as I am concerned that guy is gold, one of the best there currently is on his position. If he keeps his current form (which he basically never loses) and if he ends up in United, they will get serious reinforcement. And I don't think somebody from Bundesliga will have hard time to adjust to Premierleague.divebomb wrote:The thing is wo could fergie buy to get Man u out of the hole they are currently digging themselves into?
But then again, Real Madrid have expressed interest, and Ballacks agent has said he would favour a move to spain. But if he does end up playing for man utd, it would be the best thing to happen to the club in years. But then again at 30, would it really be a long term solution?Ozz

yeah, i think general udnerstnding is that he is not Utd bound anymore, there was a kerfuffle over this before xmas.divebomb wrote:But then again, Real Madrid have expressed interest, and Ballacks agent has said he would favour a move to spain. Back to united.
United need a couple of decent mids, thats it. its be the same story this season and last, the rest of the squad is overflowing with tallent.
Tallent which is good enough, even with huge injury list for most of the season to keep us in 2nd place.
the squad is fine it just needs two bed-rocks in the engine room.
job done.
Not at all. From past experiences as well, would manchester utd be able to attract the top, top players like they used to? Ronaldinho being a good example. He knew Barcelona were better than Man Utd at the time and had more prospects of futrue success.
Actually, Peter Kenyon didnt release the extra 1mill required. 2 months later Kenyon was at Chelski, its widely known he scuppered the deal.
United recovered buy buying Rooney, who is younger.
Ill say that he was injured all last season, so thats makes no sense, how could have he helped united to a title when he wasnt playing?Robben should be at Man Utd, but chelseas money came along, and whereas in the past Man Utd would have done anything to bring the quality players in it just didn't happen. Say what you want about Robben, but if he was playing for Man utd they would have wrapped up a couple more titles.
United recovered by buying Ronaldo, who is younger.
trend....
But sanctioned 30 mill for Rooney, as you go on tostate in a few linesIn fact the best thing to happen to Man Utd in years is Glazers takeover, with him in charge there is more chance mn utd can go buy big, because I don't think the PLC would have sanctioned the money that fergie needs to spend to get back into pole position.
Doesnt add up does it?
25 actually But sold for 18mill so you do the maths.£30 m wasted on Veron
He just didnt work after season 1, no big loss.
No they didnt. Rio is a good player.over the odds paid for Rio, reports suggested they could have beaten down the price from leeds but didn't
over the odds on Rooney, which I think may have been good business, but they could have got him for less because there was nowhere else he was gonna move to. He wanted Man U.
That would be cool, but its Everton who sold Rooney, not Rooney.
And id pay 40 mill for him anyhows. so its irrelvant.
Every teams buys players that dont work all the time. look at Arsenal.Plus all the cash wasted on kleberson, bellion, forlan, Djemb-Djemba, the cost and compensation for the new roy keane Liam Miller (now on loan to leeds).
for every player United didnt have a success with they have had huge success with others.
ill continue this later
im not fussed about Ballack, the players in interest have already been selected, and are on thier way to OT, they had to wait a few season to get them supposedly. But then again, Real Madrid have expressed interest, and Ballacks agent has said he would favour a move to spain. But if he does end up playing for man utd, it would be the best thing to happen to the club in years.
as for it being the best thing, to happen. id argue that Rooney is the best thing in recent years.
Its a bad season for United sure, thats life, but we will be great again soon, we have the firepower to sink the best, createive young talent in midfield, great defenders when fit and young talent there too.
all we lack is to midfielders who apparently are on there way. so im not fussed. I think thats the generall feeling in football to be honest.
As for Fergie, I still want him there, so do many other supporters. for every duff player u might list that he bought in ill name great players.
For every Dejmba Dejmba, or some other player that didnt make the grade we have van, or Rooney, or ronaldo, or Rio, or Henzie, rossi, pique, etc...
im not going to justify United any more, I always seem to have to, I guess united are just more interesting then other clubs...
