Depends how highly the American Christian right values the life of, say, an Iraqi. From what I've seen they are effectively considered target practice. This really annoys me.

True. I'm as opposed to the way the American military machine works in Iraq as I am to the Indian caste system. Both are blatantly wrong. If there's something that can be done to change either to something better, then I'm all for it.Metal Vendetta wrote:Depends how highly the American Christian right values the life of, say, an Iraqi. I don't think that's what BB is saying, and it's not what I'm saying. My point about the caste system is that it is a social order that is incredibly nasty to the extent that I'm willing to use a word like evil to describe it. That doesn't mean that I rank every social system I disagree with as evil, just the ones that I believe are sufficiently nasty to merit the term.Professor Smooth wrote:Let me see if I've got your argument correctly. That about the size of it, then?

Oh dear. Like, try to read what others write, will you?Professor Smooth wrote:Let me see if I've got your argument correctly. But ever imagined what living as a phariah might be like? You think it's a good system? I'd be the first to criticise democracy's flaws, but please, even dictatures are better then the caste system. Only way out of it is that maybe you get lucky and be reborn into a higher cast... Yeah, right.Professor Smooth wrote: And with that one little work, your argument becomes worthless. Evil? Please.

I merely posted to note that Bouncy didn't mean 'evil' in the sense of the word you're thinking. Where did I say any system was evil?
