If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Tortured psychics tutored physics. A news headline I saw in the bottom of a cup of tea at superconducting temperature.
A lot of a lot of things are a load of bull.
In physics, it's just that either the people who concoct bull theories can't think outside the box, so when they are presented with the box's window, are unable to successfully describe what they see because they can only think in terms of what's only in the box, or the people they tell can't think outside the box, or imagine things outside the box.
Ghosts exists, btw. In physics at least. Seldomnly-interacting Neutrinos. They scare the charge off electrons, y'know. Ooo-woooh!

Religious Person: Wow, the weather is amazing today. It's positively supernatural, isn't it?
BF: GOD! You people drive me crazy! You bring this crap up all the time! You're crazy! And so damn judgmental!

I have no issue with 'you' bringing it up. Altho i do have a minor quibble with the way some people can't deal with it being scrutinised once it has been brought up.
PS - paraody makes no sense - religous and supernatural are not neccessarily analogous, if you are going to try and take the piss you need to significantly raise your game.
Besides i wouldn't bat an eyelid if someone used such a (bizarre) turn of phrase, execpt perhaps at their supremely odd way of speaking.
I would however raise an eyebrow when someone who is very open about believeing in god says something along the lines of 'i don't believe in ghosts, the whole notion seems irrational'.
Judging by the above outburst you don't even seem to understand my primary issues with religion.

I wasn't taking aim at your primary issues with religion, but your way of dealing with them.
It's one thing to have issues with religion. I have issues with my own religion. It's another thing to viciously skewer any declaration of personal belief or faith. Yes, I know it's on a discussion board. Yes, I know we made it public. But I find little desire for understanding in the said discussions-- just a lot of bashing. If you, or Smooth, or anyone here really wants to understand why people believe, you might want to suspend your venom for a while. I don't think you want to understand. I just think you want to attack. It is a very different thing from scrutinizing to say things like what was said above.
Religion is a personal and multilayered thing. There is a very BIG line between idiotic fundamentalism that targets otherness and a moral code based on personal compassion. I think you will find that those who base their lives on the moral code of compassion rarely trumpet their faith.
Having said that, I can say that I was tired and having a s****y day yesterday, and I shouldn't have taken it out on you. Apparently the wife-defending hairy man within reared its head. I know you're a skeptical and sarcastic person, and I like you for it. Apologies for the nastiness.
