News: Catholic Church Gives Up

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

I want to be this guy, he's got infinite powers. :)

Granted, I would not exist all the time, I would be reincarnated in intervalls, whenever I could possibly be needed. I would also be a composite, but that will only add to my might.

EDIT: Hmm?? :???: It's an actual book, but since I'm considered by many on this board to be almost completely illiterate, I'm afraid that reading an entire book, and certainly one as deep and profound like that one, is beyond me. I checked the foreword, and the content-listing, and it seems as if it focuses mostly on the meditation-techniques, and on a few choice wisdoms from Buddhism.

Doesn't seem to go into the deeds of the Buddha (And of course I know that the Buddha was a man who achieved enlightenment... It does seem as if Buddhism incorporates beings who are still more/different than human.) I'm not certain how this book validates your claims?

Or are you a Buddhist who choses to interpret everything in Buddhist-mythology as purely symbolic? If one goes down that path, I think that many religions such as christianity, Islam and Hinduism to name a few can be interpreted as such. In that case, this entire conversation becomes null and void, as then both of us are right.

Hunh.. I guess the pointlessness in existance and things, are not alien to you, since you are a Buddhist after all.

Meditation is an inseperable element of Buddhism, it's not the deeds of Buddha or the teachings which are more important. The book does an excellent job of putting them all where they belong- as one.

And I Interprety Buddhist mythology through the teachings of Buddha- all physical things are transient and without meaning and life is an illusion of our minds. i.e. we don't directly interpet the world around us, we live in an illusion made in our minds. When you accept that you only percieve the world through your mind, not directly, and that your perceptions can be changed; the 'magic' of Buddhist 'Gods' suddenly becomes quite possible- you don't change the world, you change your view of it (flying is an excellent example of what the ancient Buddhas and Bodhisatvas deeds, you don't need to physically fly if you believe you are flying as the two are exactly the same in your mind).
