If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Kinda expected it, tbh. I'm cool with how it's all ended. Enough closure on most of the major storylines to leave me sated, enough left open ended to leave some things down to individual interpretation.
Joss gave us
Jedi at the cinema. Tied things up nicely because he knew that if he gave us
Empire he might not get a chance to continue it.
And at least our prequel series is actually good.
Grrr. Argh.

I could really go for another series. So many more stories left.

Bad. Bad Besty. Bad.
Course, by the time they get to season 4, Zoe will probably have gone to see Inara a few times as well. It can get awful lonely in the black.

Finally got around to seeing it, and I have to agree that this film is ******* brilliant.
Joss Whedon really does have a knack for taking an idea that has been tackled a thousand times before, and turning it into something new and engrossing. It managed to be funny, exhiliriating and sad without ever feeling like things were being done for shock value, or to fill a gap until the next big explosion-everything came together in a way that left me wanting more, yet at the same time completely satisfied with what I'd just had.
It would get 10/10 from me for this exchange alone, (and I paraphrase):
Kaylee: ...and it's been a year since I had anything betwixt my nethers that didn't run on batteries.
Mal: I didn't need to hear that!
Jayne: I could stand to hear a bit more...
In fact, it made me laugh out loud quite a few times-shaming most of the 'comedies' I've seen in recent years.
Although, and I feel most importantly, it meant I finally understood what Brend's Archive sig is all about.
On a semi-Joss Whedon themed wotsit, I just saw some porn with an Amy Acker looky-likey. 'Wooo', and indeed, 'ooot'.

I have more cultural relevance than Chiwetel Ejiofor.
My TFA sig is Owen Hargreaves. Seriously...

Let me add my voice to the "Inara and Kaylee lez up" sequel. Good God, them just combing each others hair in the show was sex on legs (asa was the way Kaylee eats strawberries).

Since I'm currently sick as hell and rewatching the series, I got curious to see if anything was happening.
First of all this (Noooo! Very sad) from Joss:
http://www.ew.com/ew/report/0,6115,1141343_1_0_,00.html
Now this (possibly nuts) guy who is trying to buy the rights and create some independent financing for the show:
http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?id=34383
and his site, where you can add your name to his list of supporters (I think somebody posted this before):
http://www.fireflyseason2.com
The link in the second article to "fans distrust Underhill" doesn't come up, or at least it didn't for me. Maybe the movie's site is already down. Seems odd yet also could be good. The idea that a show could run completely without network support is really interesting. But since Whedon seems to be a very traditional Hollywood guy in his business sense, I don't see him going for it.
[edit] Here's something else I think has also been posted: Joss saying, in contrast to the above, that he would like to continue it. I think the EW article is more recent, though. Dang.
http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=17800
[edit again] It's not. EW is from December and Empire is January. Sudden, unreasonable and possibly heartbreaking hope resumes...

hmm, i'm pretty unoptimistic to be honest.
Got the graphic novel today, not as good as i was hoping, some of the key moments are a bit hard to follow in art terms which is a shame, however i note that they made it volume one, so maybe a comics continuation is the most likley thing.
Would love to see a Buffy movie...

Oh, there are more comics coming... set in the Firefly days before everyone jumped ship. It's here:
http://www.ifmagazine.com/new.asp?article=2920
Plus here's the picture of Serenity in BSG episode 1:
http://www.whedon.info/article.php3?id_article=2945
They could make quite a buck, justifying further work if they rereleased the DVD with an extra ton of special features, including drafts of the movie's scripts, more interviews, and maybe even some unmade show scripts.
[more edit! I'm obsessed]
Joss saying, in a very funny way, that the EW article quoted him out of context:
