PLease not DC please not DC, please not DC. I can't believe that I'm acctually cheering against DC, but I'm all for the talented people that Dreamengine's got, (no, not the Lee's..) and we've all had it with new continuitys. Just put Don Figueroa and Simon Furman on Beast Wars damnit!
Just checked it out on Seibertron myself:
"Devil's Due & DC are the current publishers are speaking to.
DDP would basically pick & choose stuff from DW's run to continue with and
release lesser stuff as the brand reaffirms it's success. Much of it actually
produced by DreamEngine, but now published by DDP.
DC is the dark horse in this race, no puns intended to the Conan-publisher.
They want to do Cybertron as part of their Johnny DC line of kid's comics. As far
as G1 goes, they want to tie it into the movie in 2006 and not deal with the
previous comics or cartoons AT ALL. They did apparently dangle one juicy carrot
in front of Hasbro's nose tho: full-fledged membership in the DC Universe. Does
OA have enough metal for a ring that big?
For the record, Marvel wasn't interested and Hasbro never called THEM either.
There's bad blood between the companies after some remarks Joe Quesada made
about Hasbro & DW regarding the Transformers comics (some crude and sexual in
nature) that are still fresh on their minds. Joe did the same thing to DC after
JLA/Avengers and Paul Levitz broke off all relations with Marvel until Joe steps
down as their Editor-in-chief."
Here's the real link: http://www.seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=4522
For crying out loud, the DC-handle seems to be super-naff. Ignoring everything in G1 that's come before and only wait till 2006?? Cybertron as Johnny DC kiddie comic?! An integrated part of the DC-universe??(Hmm..god or bad? Judging from the old attempts with superheroes/TF's I'd have to say: bad) Hoi! Give me Devils Due then! Cause then we'll apparently see the continuation of Energon and AoW.
And Quesada, what have you done?! I don't mind that you gave those DC people a slew, but this??! Grrrr...
Tis' weird, all of a sudden I'm warming up to Devils Due..

Transformer membership in the DCU would be the fulfillment of many a childhood fantasy of mine
Not only would it pretty much ensure a continuing interest... but from a mature perspective...
The Transformers have such broad appeal because of thier archetypical nature, DC is pretty much all about archetypes and I do believe that aside from the initial shock they're probably the best able to handle the material.
Now As long as they pick up the current g1 arc and use it as a springboard into the movie, as well as implicitly picking up the established war within material I think we will be golden.
And Yes I WANT To see a Batman Optimus teamup... although I think a Batman Grimlock Teamup is more likely and a superman Optimus fitting better.
ALthough the following plots also make me giddy Luthor-Shockwave, Darkseid-Megatron, Starscream-Joker...
Nightbeat-Batman (For the Win)

Two little words: Joe Quesada. He's doing an overall good job as marvel-boss, but at times he makes these weird statements and focks up. Apparently he said some things about the Dreamwave TF comic and Hasbro wich was of a sexually offensive nature. Bloody idiot. Your company dropped the license, twice, don't start b*tching when it took your number 1 place. You lost a golden one, deal with it, c*nt.Impactor returns 2.0 wrote:I give up. why not Marvel. please why not marvel... why, oh, why,
Not all share this fantasy, I assure you. Now, a small one-shot company crossover is fun at times, but part of DCU? God no.Katana16j wrote:Transformer membership in the DCU would be the fulfillment of many a childhood fantasy of mine

I'm sorry, but all those make me feel strangely sick. IMHO.Katana16j wrote: And Yes I WANT To see a Batman Optimus teamup... although I think a Batman Grimlock Teamup is more likely and a superman Optimus fitting better.

I think I'd rather see the TFs forge ahead on their own terms and create a beautiful new universe wholly based around concepts in their own property than see them shoehorned into an existing (and somewhat self-cannibalising IMHO) sandbox.
So, DD it is. Even if the Lees will be exercising ghostly influence over the line through Dreamengine (shudder).
Although I wouldn't mind - making the best out of a disappointing rumour - if DC or someone pick up the Cybertron license exclusive of the other properties and put that book out as a standalone.
I could see someone taking that and making it into a 'proper' Western Manga, rather than the trad Western comic drawn using some vaguely Japanese-ish stylings it was. Dunno if it'd sell, but it seems a fairly obvious possibility.
Hell, if Marvel got it they probably would.
And then the other books can be punted to DD. G1 book to end by the time the movie comes out, maybe....
must stop dreaming on pap-screen.

I never thought would say it, but... rather Devil's due then this.
Sadly, Hasbro would jump at the chance DC offered them... It would mean we poor fans would buy other DC comics as well just to see Megs fight Superman or something craptacular like that.
Cybertron as a kiddie comic? Hasbro, you already have that kiddie cartoon to support it. And as I know, Hasbro was very pleased with Simon's Armada/Energon. (Lets face it, if it wasn't for him, older fans would have dropped these continuities completely.)

I too am in the DD camp.
But the question is, which one does Hasbro see as more enticing?
It seems that marketing Cybertron as part of a package aimed towards kids (I assume it's going to be a Star Comics kind of thing, if any of you people remember Planet Terry. lol) would make sense, as well as having the full fledged support of a company like DC behind the movie.

Chest-bursters springing out of well-known Nebulannians. Perhaps new breeds resulting from aliens coming from the Headmasters & Targetmasters. It might be the link needed to get my best bud really into the TFs.
Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

i was also thinking that due to the Nebulan's armour teh chest bursters would have to claw their way up and out via the face...Señior's Covenant wrote:Chest-bursters springing out of well-known Nebulannians.
