Anyone else spot the blatant Red Dwarf footage?Brendocon wrote:"There is no evidence to link a young Michael Moore to the shooting of JFK, but can the fact that you are watching these two pieces of footage side by side really just be coincidence?"
Oh, and I think Bush will "win".
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

I understand your pessimism, Best, but I have to, I want to believe that we Americans will pull our head out of the sand long enough to elect John Kerry.
Here's MY pessimism:
1) If Kerry wins, all the progress that people have made over the last four years towards being politically active, and organizing because Bush so blatantly pissed everyone off, will be lost because Joe Schmoe will think, "Ah, that's good, we got Bush out of office. I can go back to watching TV and playing with myself again and not bother with politics." And that's not good, because the US in particular (economy, iraq, terrorism, cultural civil war) and the world in general (povery, war, genocide, pollution, globalization, oncoming enviromental catastrophe) has got a LOT of problems and Kerry only slows or stop the US's bleeding.
And my optimism:
2) If Bush wins, our country is going to be so completly screwed and disjointed in four years that the US will be absolutely forced to look at its gluttenous, overconsuming, wasteful, privledged, morally bankrupt self in the mirror. And we might actually see some REAL change.

Four more years of Bush? I'm having trouble getting through four more minutes!*Shanti418 wrote:

And my pessimistic side worries that in four more years there won't be anyone capable of running against the dictator-in-chief. [/]100%bitterness

I totally agree. I think it would be a great idea to have hillary as president. Do you think she would hire me as an intern? If Bush wins, I have a hard time NOT seeing Hillary Clinton as the next President, barring some massive escalation of the "War on Terror" which would lead Joe American to think that he couldn't trust a woman in these militaristic times.

Cali is Kerry. Not a swing state. FL is showing Bush up by ~5% with ~50% reporting. Ohio showing Bush up by ~5.5% with 14.3% reporting.wideload wrote:Bush hasnt won yet. Cali gets a ton of electoral votes and hasnt been counted yet. Also florida is still undecided

Florida is still totally undecided. The big urban centres have not been counted yet. I know cali is kerry, I meant it hasnt been counted in the total yet so it makes bush's lead look bigger than it is.
edit that looks like florida is probably going bush

For some reason, I don't see any major military powers, save China, shooting at us.Computron wrote:It is when they start shooting at us.Leatherneck wrote:

Like us or not, the rest of the world depends far too much on America.
Florida is firmly Bush, nearly 90% reporting. Ohio has Bush up around 52.5% with a 5% lead, 50% reporting. And MICHIGAN! Up 55-45, 27 reporting.

Which explains the peace reigning over Iraq, and the complete lack of Islamic fundamentalist terrorism?Leatherneck wrote:For some reason, I don't see any major military powers, save China, shooting at us.Computron wrote:It is when they start shooting at us.Leatherneck wrote:

As an American, I'd like to apologize to the rest of the world. I am sorry that the majority of people in this county are complete idiots who cannot understand what Bush's actions have done to America and the world. I tried hard to get people to vote. Many people who weren't going to vote went (and voted for Kerry) because efforts of people like myself. Nonetheless, we were unable to push back the bounds of ignorance.
I deeply regret this shortcoming, and sincerely fear what lies ahead.

I really find it shocking and distasteful that my opinions and personal beliefs classify me as an 'idiot'. I know that you didnt personally write that letter Compy, but it still bothers me that people cant just say "Ok.. My opinions didnt prevail today, but that doesnt mean I should give up." Rather our society has become too reliant on name calling and tantrum throwing.

Boo-Fing-Hoo. Since everyone who votes republicans MUST be an idiot, and everyone who is right wing MUST be ignorant, and anyone who doesnt conform to YOUR worldview MUST be stupid....Computron wrote:As an American, I'd like to apologize to the rest of the world.
