I was just having a look around at various upcoming figures, and noticed that poor Strafe from the Technobots has ended up as both a recoloured Cyclonus and a movie Mindwipe.

I suppose there's an aspect of keeping the names in copyright but I find it galling how many excellent but lesser known characters end up getting their names attached to some dreary repaint of a figure that looks nothing like them. It's not as if Strafe is totally lacking in physical character - he had two huge bright orange guns that he apparently shot off whenever he heard a pin drop.

Other favourites who've been similarly shafted: Sandstorm (from triple-changer to beige Beachcomber), Blades (one of umpteen redecos of Evac), Springer (same again), Whirl (same again) ... anyone else?

Blades was all right with that Evac mold, at least it was relevant. Springer not so much. I'm surprised they didn't do it with that new bird-legged chopper-bot from the RotF non-show line.

Speaking of which, Terradive. I have the original around here and I have no idea what the trident is about.

Yeah the new Mindwipe was a bad choice - not as bad as Cybertron Soundwave as BLASTER. Yeesh. Mindwipe in Brainstorm's colors might have looked good though, what with there being a new Highbrow and all.

And the Stormcloud recolor of Powerglide. You've got Silverbolt as Darkwing, Powerglide as Dreadwind would actually look decent.

Dion getting the Wheelio mould seemed pretty harsh, even for a cartoon exclusive (puttup!) character.
