Anyone noticed the furore yet?

Yes, they did. They called a Transformer 'Spastic'.

Yeah. I think it's ******* retarded.

See what I did there? I should have my own tv show. I'm funnier than Graham ******* Norton.

Yup.

Still think they should create a line of "offensive" names and get it over with.

According to the Fun Publications Club panel at BotCon 2009, Hasbro did a search for the name with "safe search" on, causing them to not see... well, that.
From article.

This just goes to show that sometimes looking at pictures of boobs and naughty bits at work can be labelled "research".

Yeah i saw it but surely safe search being off is pretty f'ing mandatory when checking is something has a dubious connotation?

Hilarious either way...

Yeah, I don't believe they actually checked, as even a search with safety on brings it up.

True, is funny.

Google's safesearch is a bit like non-alcoholic beer.

I think we should applaud Hasbro for their efforst to reclaim offensive terms in the name of harmless robot fun and write in with a few more suggestions.

Plus presumably most words are not offensive somewhere - the inside of Snarlo's head for example.

I suggest we start lobbying for a TF called C**t because the word (presumably) isn't offensive in China.

C**t and the C**nticons combine to form C**tasor.

I have to admit I didn't know it was a slurr, either.

It's not our fault. It's you blokes' fault for being dickish enough to give it that meaning. So nyah. :p

Er, it's got the same meaning. It's just got more derogatory and taboo connotations here. Like the N word in the States. The meaning of the word remains the same, but it evolves into an unspeakable slur over time.

Me neither.
