Realise that we are sort of covering this in another topic, but wanted to call this out specifically.

Basically - which of these guys, from the 2006 Classics line onwards, are a must have? I am pretty much in the mode of collecting G1 but am starting to think i may have missed a trick with these guys as the ones i have are generally all kinds of awesome (and obv G1 affiliated).

So far i have;

Classics;
- Rodimus

Universe
- Cyclonus
- Hound and Ravage
- Galvatron
- Silverbolt

Generations
- Straxus
- Drift
- WFC Megs

Am i a knob for not grabbing Powerglide for example?

Personally I love Mirage, Optimus Prime, Onslaught and Jetfire.

Powerglide is...a bit meh IMO. Better if you can get the red version. I just don't think the figure suits it's (large) size.

Starscream (and the other seekers) is just an all around great figure. Ditto with Bumblebee. Astrotrain's pretty great too.

Inferno and Sunstreaker are great as well.

I personally like the Prowl mold, but I may be the in the minority on that(the feet pull out, but the instructions don't show it, FYI).

cheers dudes.

I also have Sideswipe (whoi fogot) - i was a bit underwhelmed by him which kind of put me off the line as and when it was in Tseco (bah) rather than hard to find on ebay. Though Irnhide and Prowl looked pretty weak as well. Which is a shame as there has never been a decent Ironhide toy imo.

Jetfire i have fancied for a while.

That is not a wierd confession by the way.

Hmm, I think Ironhide is very good.

Prime, Bumblebee - class. As is Mirage. Megatron - you must have him surely?

I skipped Powerglide, thought he looked gash.

I have Silverbolt, if you're not going for completion I don't think he's that great.

I thought Galvatron was disappointing - could have done with being a bigger figure.

I like the coneheads.

Not got Inferno.

I tend to not be as bothered with the bigger ones.

Grimlock was a let down, deserves to be a bigger figure.

Another vote for Inferno here. Love that figure.

Bumblebee and Megatron are being rereleased as part of Transformers United if you were having issues tracking them down.

Must concur on many points raised here by my esteemed colleague.

Here is my collection thus far and my thoughts:

Galvatron - too complex a transformation for size and way too small.

Cyclonus - Excellent figure, lovely transformation and brilliant target master accessory.

Ironhide - my fave figure, but I forked out for the Henkai version to get the accurate colour scheme (cuz' he's my fave autobot!).

Sideswipe - Really like this figure, especially as I got a fans project silver rocket launcher for his shoulder. Totally completes his look!

Thundercracker / Skywarp - Paid top dollar for these two takara numbers. G1 accurate colour scheme is a plus, but because the seeker mould is so overused the joints are a little loose. Incidentally TC is my fave con, hence the paying above the odds.

Hound - Great figure. Ravage is awesome.

Inferno - Going to play Devil's advocate and confess I'm not a fan. Think they missed the mark with his head. He needs his chunky red 'shell' and framing white 'feathers'. Also think he's on the skinny side from a profile angle.

Onslaught - Underwhelming figure. He's a bit too chunky for my liking - I wish they'd made him leaner.

Thrust - My first cone head! Fantastic figure.

Straxus - Still evaluating him as only got him today, but so far, so good!

Toyed (hah!) with the idea of picking up Silverstreak, but didn't bother in the end (although may live to regret it). Silverbolt and Powerglide both looked a bit lame IMO.

I'm looking forward to adding Drift, Kup, Tracks, Jazz, Scourge and Rumble to my collection soon!

Got Straxus...

Jesus Christ, that toy is a right ******* sort!

I ******* love him!

Bit top heavy, but his robot mode is ******* BRILLIANT!

Beautifully posable, proportions spot on for a big ******* killer Decepticon...

Transformation pretty intuitive (did it in about 5 mins without instructions)

He's ******* quality.

I love the repaint Cyclonus from the Cybertron Shodown three pack. He's one of my favorite TFs, period.
-edit- I just picked up RtS Tracks.. unreal. Awesome figure.

Chaps I've got:

Bumblebee - Fab. Biggest flaw is it's not a beetle. Otherwise near perfect - although the fact that his entire torso is really just a roof panel and spinal column is slightly freaky.

Blurr - Probably the best so far (and it's not Drift!). Loads of guns, all the kibble passes for effective armour and unlike many of the others, at the heart of him is a whole robot body, which gives him a level of realism you don't get with figures whose chest, say, is an empty cab or whose legs are hollow when viewed from the back.

Sunstreaker - Slightly disappointing feel without his lambo feet, although the head and torso are great. I feel his 'ears' make all the difference to this mould feeling properly proportioned, such that although I really want a good Red Alert figure, I'm very hesitant about buying this one. Suffers from the 'hollow legs' problem described above. Not a big problem - just takes the edge off it feeling like a proper scale model.

Ramjet/Starscream - both fine, although the stiffness in the joints and the piddly arms are a bit of a let-down when the rest of the line is so well articulated. Starscream can't move his arms very far without knocking his own wings off their axis.

Prowl - Not good enough. Very disappointing. I have three Prowls - the Alternators one and the Animated one are both better than this one, and some of the problems are just mystifying. It's not as if it's a clever new transformation sequence - just the opposite, in fact. So why does he end up with his head sitting too high, badly designed shoulders, rubbish feet and a very half-arsed looking car mode? Mine also has the paint problem others have mentioned - the white dirtying very quickly, smudging where it borders the black, and chrome rubbing off. Think they should go back and redo him, really.

Now gunning for Wreck Gar, Wheeljack, Perceptor and maybe an Astrotrain if I can find one.

Managed to get Jetfire - he is pretty groovy. And picked up Sunstreaker pretty cheap - i like the way they have varied the same mold for the twins. Plus i have Tracks on the way after doing some ebaying today.

Based on above comments well certainly keep and eye out for Bumblebee, keen to get Kup, Blur, Scourge and Twing. May also go for Jazz and Wheeljack.

Bumblebee is getting a reissue soon, with a paintjob that makes him look more like the movie version.

I just got Thunderwing, and while disappointed with his size compared to the rest of my collection, was VERY pleased to see his hands are capable of holding the Matrix from the two-pack with Cyclonus...

Tell me about it. I told myself "It's cheap on Ebay, I'll just get a War Within Fallen" - and have since collected almost the entire Titanium series, and branched out into Generations/etc...

Yeah, but if you take into consideration the gas you save, which if you're like me, prowling the city just to find these toys, it's probably a good idea.

And usually, the sender puts them in nice boxes that you can store your DVD's and doodads in.

I think he calls it his "cyber key"... You insert it in the available slot to make action happen. Not a thing you want to leave lying around where it can be easily lost.

Got Tracks, Twing (twing!), WFC Soundwave and Blur this morning.

Tracks is better than he looks in the pictures, less squat than i was expecting, his vehicle mode is really meaty and his robot mode is spot on, apart from his missiles maybe being a bit weedy.

T-wing could do with less back kibble, but is a worthy tribute and i love his 'Don' head

Blur is awesome - i really like his updated techspec as well. Massive, massive chin though.

Soundwave - vehicle is a bit of a lump but robot mode is spiffy. Quite big feet, but not as big as BLUR'S CHIN.

Sadly, I have yet to find a lock that I might open using said "cyber key".

Damn.

I suck at sexual innuendos, don't I?

You'll be wanting a skeleton "cyber key," methinks. Good to open almost any lock. ;)

yes. Only good when its attached to you. Other than that its just a smaller more feeble version of the real thing.

You take your little man in your hand, locate where he fits in, carefully put him into his slot. Then using a little force and some jiggling about, push him firmly into position and watch as she changes in response.

Well, maybe not a good Swiss Toni joke, then.

I got Sidearm Sideswipe a little while back - definitely an improvement over Swordy-Sideswipe with the whole brittleback thingy. Although this means one of them could be repainted into Sunstreaker now. Can't decide which.
