Playing through the Decepticon campaign as Megatron is ******* difficult. He runs out of ammo far too easily.

I'm having trouble with the third Decepticon chapter. The one where you first get to play as Soundwave... we get toasted every time by the sea of Autobots. And of course, Megatron's tendency to run out of ammo quickly isn't much help. Any tips?

"I'm getting shot to pieces here"

"Aaargh"

Ratchet, yesterday.

Got there in the end though.

Would be amazing if they can take this and dump it into a free roaming environment, season with some off world locations and space rucks when they make the follow up.

Missed this line in the post at Somewhere Else.

Which bit are you on? Helping Brawl or waiting for the air strike?

Easiest way to win is get on a turret. Rip it off, and hide back behind the small barriers along the edge. You do need to stay up on that second story ledge though, it gets rough if you jump down. Also, theres an Overshield right below that area, so get that right before you start.

sades, the only advice I can give you is to pick your targets and dont be afraid to use his tank form. Megatron is brutal up close and personal.

Oh no prob- I think what you're referring to was an accident; I looked at my friends list just before I was heading to bed, then fumble-dropped the controller. Looked at the screen and it said something about a party invite. I have no idea what this is (I'm guessing it's the invite-thing for multiplayer; I don't usually start the multiplayer games so I've no idea) and wasn't sure if it had actually sent, so I just shut the machine off. :)
Brendocon wrote:Which bit are you on? Helping Brawl or waiting for the air strike?
Ah, shoot... I'm at the bit where Megatron has that conversation with the hologram-thing of Zeta Prime. (I believe that's where we're supposed to wait for the air strike? I'm confused. And sleepy.) We haven't been able to get through the initial Autobot attack right after that conversation.

Doesn't help that Megs was out of ammo when the thing autosaved- Does a fresh restart from the same point give me back health/ammo? [/hopes]

Yep, found that out early. But don't think there are any where we are at currently, unfortunately. I usually leave any shielding/health to Soundwave (who is usually played by my boyfriend in co-op) as he can heal the rest so it's beneficial that he not kick the bucket. I suppose I should have thought to pick up a bit of shielding for myself, seeing as how I end up in melee combat so often. :uhh:

Good advice. His tank mode is stupid-slow, but yeah... capable of killing most things with one shot? Gimme!

As badass as Megtron was, I'm probably going to play as Breakdown. I hate running out of ammo so quickly, mainly because I blow up far too easily.

There's several conversations with HoloZeta, so er... dunno. Waiting for the air strike is after Megs speaks to Starscream for backup and you just have to hold the line until he gets there... sounds like you're before that.

Sadly no. You pick up from how you were at the last checkpoint. At least on the PS version, at least. You can go back and restart the entire chapter if you want... but you won't be able to change character.

I've found that, on easy at least, anywhere where you have to dig in for a mass confrontation there's several ammo packs or new weapons lying about. Enough to get by at any rate.

I'm on the fourth chapter now (and having been Soundwave before I've gone for Megatron) and there's an absolute bitch of an ambush. Even the "steal health from the enemy" special power isn't doing a whole lot of good when there's bullets flying from every single direction and the [composite word including 'f*ck'] have got their own healing rays.

It's all about finding the right vantage point and holding the position.

Yeah, I knew I'd not be able to describe that well enough. Half remembered/half-asleep. Hoh well. :)
but you won't be able to change character.
That much I remembered; next chapter I'm allowed to pick, it will probably be a different character. I'm hoping to get a turn at Soundwave, though it'll probably mean handing off on Skywarp later. Bah.

Don't know if the XBox version has an "easy" setting, have no idea what setting we're on as I wasn't the one handling that end of things when we started. I'll have to have a go at playing through the campaign myself at some point, I think.
Brendocon wrote:Even the "steal health from the enemy" special power

Totally forgot about that until you mentioned it. This is useful. Very useful.

I believe we are firing up the XBox(es) now. I think I'd rather sleep, but I want at least one crack at that stupid bit that's been soundly spanking us before I call it a night...

You won't get another chance at Skywarp during the same campaign, I fear. There's only one chapter for the jets, after which it's Megatron/Soundwave/Breakdown all the way through.

Surprisingly positive. In so much as the reviewer's surprised that it's positive.

But you can always replay missions, so you can be all the characters.

It's well boss isn't it?

I'm currently on the stage with Jetfire(me), Silverbolt and Airraid flying around shooting ****, innit.

Would have loved more open, explorable environments with multiple objectives.

But as a first outing, it's ****** good fun, and you know when the sequel comes around it'll make this look pedestrian, as is always the case.

I've yet to try out creating my own character, what's that like? Are you be able to make your fave characters etc?

And if they don't make all the format / pre-order exclusive characters available for d/l at some stage (plus a **** load more) I'll be astonished.

I agree with that reviewer - I am a tiny bit disappointed with the variety / look of enemies & levels.

Could have maybe used a bit more variety with their palette, thrown in a few different faces, body shapes etc.

And also with the levels. Relatively minor things, but I think a bit more variety would make me absolutely love this as opposed to just thinking it's pretty cool.

I'm sure they can iron these out for future releases.

Yeah, I've taken a break from GTA IV to play this, and whilst you can wander about the levels a bit there's not really anything to do whilst you're at it. Plus you just end up tripping over the other characters whilst you're exploring.

I think it's just basically a redeco thinger.

I reckon Shockers, Jazz and Demolishor being downloadable at some point down the the line is a given. Shame you can't do the missions with em though.

Yep- good review. Pretty much agreed, on the bits that I've seen anyway.

Having a Transformers game that is much like Oblivion/Fallout 3 would be fantastic, IMO. I love the fact that you don't really have to have any specific goals to work towards in Oblivion to enjoy playing it; you can sort of just pop it in and go do whatever it is you feel like, be it working on one of the side-quests or just randomly killing things/improving your pickpocketing skills. I'm not holding my breath for it but I would love to see something of that translated into a Transformers game.
Brendocon wrote:I reckon Shockers, Jazz and Demolishor being downloadable at some point down the the line is a given.
Pretty much, yeah. That's how it usually goes, with the XBox stuff anyway. Released as free content with preordered game at first, downloadable (with a small fee) later on. Playstation, no idea.

From what I've seen, PS3 games often get reissued later with all downloadable content included. Eh.

Finished the Decepticon campaign! Woohoo! RoboOmega is a ******, but a straightforward one. It's just getting in those final shots before all your energy goes.

Done the first two chapters of the Autobot Run. Kaon Jailbreak = WIN. Even though Rumble and Frenzy are backwards. :/

So on Friday (or Thurs, can't remember... at some point within the past four days?), we decided to each go it alone on our WFC campaigns. Not long after this decision, he made it through the bit we were having problems with on his first go at it without me.

I was so pissed off.  I think I'm going to get him to play me past that part, assuming that that part hasn't killed my enthusiasm for the game altogether.

Still no luck getting online, but replaying on the hardest difficulty setting is pretty ace. Its not stupidly ramped up to where you want to throw your controller and say "HOW MANY HEADSHOTS WITH A SNIPER RIFLE DOES IT TAKE SERIOUSLY?" but it is by no means a walk in the park.\

Any advice on what might be causing my xbox to be brain dead would be helpful.

probably too obvious but have you tried the text the connection feature? That is usually pretty good at isolating where the problem is.

With wireless/broadband hubs it is often as simple as turning the router on and off again (in my experience)

I must admit i have dropped this in favour of the awesome Red Dead Redemption, which again emphasises the joy of free roam and side missions and i am struggling to put down. Better than GTA 4 i think - unless you hate Westerens, obvs.

Altho some of the AI is still pillocky...

Id like to see Grand Theft Auto: Transformers Edition

Missions where you have to hunt down the other faction on earth while they are incognito in the middle of a bustling city.

Now I really want to play Carmegeddon.
