KO G1 Shockwave

It's one thing to have KO G1 combiners all over the place, but a mold as old as Shockwave?

Spotted just the other day. I hope they didn't deliberately pick Armada Laserbeak to base the colors off of. Ignore the 4-leaf-clover dangler on my camera phone there.

Local money $13.90 = US$9.20

Supposedly it's got electronics, only they gutted the original circuitry and it runs on 3 button cells now. The gun-hand isn't even translucent, so I doubt it involves lights this time, which doesn't explain why they felt the need to put a parabolic reflector in the large gun barrel.

It's kind of neat... you know, if you go past it looking like a toy hair dryer.

Yeah, but there's not many people who look like a toy hair dryer these days.

Oh, and welcome, NeoRanger.

Hmm, and it appears he has Megatron's head? :)

On a related note - it seems the 'almost as the real thing' KO-making Chinese factory will make Shockwave too. At least there has been sightings of a prototype already. So I might be able to pick a G1 Shocky up for less then 150$...

Some more pics here. First up, a closer look at the Engrish on the box:

Yes. Gun God Biography. Just so you know, these same guys released a bootleg Classics Megatron under this 'label'.

Instructions on the back. Surprisingly straightforward.

Here's the weirdest thing about it yet - the sounds. Yes, it has electronic sounds. Just not the ones you'd expect.

God Gun Biography. Seriously....

Seriously, that's Shockwave's Autbiography (translated to chinese)? Titled: "Why I should lead, aka 'anything else would be illogical" :ididit:

haha gotta love the sounds on that thing.

I had Shackwave (The Radio Shack Grey one) when I was a kid and a grey and red Valkyrie instead of Jetfire, loved that thing. Shame my mother believed in throwing away everything regardless. Despite keeping a horrid little teddybear with one eye higher than the other named Isiah (get it?) :eyebrow:

I always hear these stories, I still wonder what kind of a parent feels throwing/giving away her kids toys without asking said kid is "right". My mom always asked me about stuff like this, and I only gave away toys I did not like/need. I still have pretty much all my old toys packed up - I took out my LEGO collection last year trying to re-build everything I had. Ahh, nostalgia. :)

Heh, funny you should say that. I'm doing the same with my old Bionicle sets. I feel sorry for whoever's going to fill my replacement parts order.

My parents gave me Blaster and the small purple one for Christmas one year. I never got into them much. I was more interested in Rock Raiders at the time, which I don't have much of either.

Came across something different today. You know how so many of the recent revival TFs get named Darkmount or something because Hasbro's been losing the copyright to names left and right? The real question is where the names keep going, and... well, just look.

Of course, it might not be a name many care for... but it could have been.
